Indian students who dream of studying abroad can now retake any one of the four skills in IELTS (the world's most well-known English language test), in which they think their performance is not up to the mark.
 

This will be happening first time around to Indian students who want to study abroad to retake one module in IELTS if they are dissatisfied with their results. Retake one module in IELTS in India will now be available at approved IELTS Computer Delivered test locations across India. This option is only for those candidates who opt for the Computer Delivered IELTS test.

Single module retake in IELTS IDP will be available nationally for both Academic and General IELTS at all 47 IELTS Computer Centers.
 

What is IELTS One Skill Retake?
 

One skill retake IELTS will help computer-delivered IELTS test takers to retake any one of the four skills (Listening, Writing, Reading or Speaking) if they think their results are not what they expected. So, if any candidate has not performed their best, the IELTS One Skill Retake will help them stay on track.
 

Aspirants will receive a second Test Report Form (TRF) with their updated result after selecting the "IELTS One Skill Retake.
 

IELTS One Skill Retake was first available in Australia and Cambodia and is now launched in India. It will gradually be launched in other countries around the globe in 2023.
 

" Piyush Kumar, Regional Director, IELTS IDP India - South Asia and Mauritius, said that this way, students can submit their applications for migration and study abroad using this TRF and achieve their goals.

We took time to listen to our test takers about the IELTS exam retake option, and a majority of them chose to retake tone skills as compared to the whole test if they didn’t get the required score,” Kumar said.
 

Warwick Freeland, Managing Director – IELTS, IDP Education, said this option will help both students as well as education institutions to attain their goals.

As per Freeland, IELTS One Module Retake will improve fairness by giving test takers the choice to retake a single skill among the four if they believe their first attempt score was inaccurate of their language proficiency.

Please note that the IELTS One Skill Retake is exclusive to Australia. IDP intends to introduce this option in other countries in the near future. IELTS is collaborating with governments and organizations to ensure acceptance of the IELTS One Skill Retake. Test takers are advised to check our website for any updates on this matter regularly.

How Can a Candidate Take IELTS One Skill Retake?

Aspiring study abroad candidates can retake IELTS One Skill if:
 

• Completed the full test at a center that offers the One Skill Retake option.
• Candidates IELTS full test is eligible for computer test.
• Candidates take the One Skill Retake option within 60 days of the IELTS test.
   

How Can a Candidate Receive Their IELTS One Skill Retake Result? 
 

Study abroad test takers can get their new IELTS Test Report Form (TRF), which will contain their new band scores of the retake skills and the other 3 skills they did not retake. The new test report form will be dated the same as per the original IELTS Academic or General Training test. 

IELTS One Skill Retake Format and Timings
 

The IELTS One Skill Retake test format and timing will be the same as the normal IELTS test. After taking the test, the candidate will receive a new Test Report Form. Further, it’s the candidate's option to choose either the old or new Test Report Form.
