About Auckland University of Technology City Campus

AUT is the second-largest university in Aotearoa New Zealand. We have been a university since 2000, but a place of learning for 120 years and operate in accordance with the Education Act (1989). AUT is a contemporary New Zealand university, led by a strategic team and governed by a council. The Vice-Chancellor is the head of the University and is supported by the Strategic Leadership Team. The AUT Council is the governing body of the University and is made up of lay members, academic and professional staff, at least one student, and members appointed by the government.

City Campus
Our City Campus is in the heart of Auckland. It is AUT’s biggest campus and home to most academic units and the central administration, including the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The City Campus is a 15-minute walk from Britomart train station and the ferry terminal. AUT shuttle buses run between the South and City campuses, and public buses stop nearby.

Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation (City Campus)
Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation is brand new and provides quality, modern, single studio-style living. The facilities and location are outstanding – in the heart of Auckland city, just a minute's walk from AUT City Campus and with cafes and restaurants nearby. The accommodation is open to all tertiary students (not just AUT).

Single studio living in a friendly, social environment
At Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation you'll get the best of both worlds – time and a spacious room to yourself for study and reflection, as well as the opportunity to meet others in shared spaces designed for student living. Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation is managed by UniLodge, who provide a residential life programme giving you lots of opportunities to connect with other students and have fun.

Rooms
In each single studio room there is:

  • King single bed
  • Kitchenette: fridge, sink, storage, microwave, 2-plate hob
  • Bathroom
  • Study desk and chair
  • Storage space, bookshelves

There are 697 rooms in total, with 25 which are accessible. Electricity, gas, water and unlimited wifi are included in your accommodation fee.

The Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation complex includes shared spaces and facilities like:

Security and support services
You can expect a safe and positive university experience while living at Te ?huru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation.

  • 24-hour safety and security – UniLodge staff and residential assistants (student staff members who provide support to residents) are on site during the day, and AUT security staff are on call 24/7
  • 24-hour onsite pastoral care (UniLodge staff and a duty manager, plus live-in residential assistants)

UniLodge provides a Residential Life programme during the year, so you can get to know other people and participate in social events.

Wellesley Student Apartments (City Campus accommodation)
Wellesley Student Apartments offers shared, apartment-style accommodation in central Auckland, just a 3-minute walk to the City Campus. Close to public transport links, Wellesley Student Apartments provides a convenient, safe and social lifestyle.

Apartment-style living on campus
Wellesley Student Apartments (WSA) offers self-catered accommodation for 496 students. Each of the 102 apartments is fully furnished and self-contained, and you can also use shared facilities like the common room, courtyard and kitchen to meet and socialise with students from other apartments.

Rooms, facilities and services

Apartments
There are 102 apartments (496 students). Electricity, water, gas and unlimited wifi are included in your accommodation fee. Each apartment is fully furnished and has 4 or 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge.

Bedrooms

There are 3 bedroom sizes to choose from:

  • Small (2.6m x 2.5m)
  • Standard (3.2m x 2.5)
  • Large (4m x 3.4m)

Every bedroom has a king single bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, bookshelf and heated towel rail. You need to bring your own bedding and linen, or you can buy a linen pack from our accommodation services team. There are 13 bedrooms for students which are accessible.

Who you'll live with
Apartment groups are chosen based on age and course of study, but we will do our best to accommodate any special requests. When you apply, you can tell us if you would prefer to live in a single or mixed gender group and add any comments like rainbow friendly or no alcohol.

You can make use of the shared areas at WSA, including:

  • Courtyard with volleyball court and basketball hoop
  • Bike storage

Security and support services
Wellesley Student Apartments (WSA) is a safe and secure place to live – with help and support nearby whenever you need it.

  • 24-hour onsite security (AUT staff are on site during the day and security staff are on site overnight)
  • 24-hour onsite pastoral care (Night Duty Officer, live-in residential assistants (RAs are student staff members who provide support to residents))

WSA provides a Residential Life programme during the year, so you can get to know other people and participate in social events. The Residential Life Manager lives on site.

Auckland University of Technology City Campus Services & Facilities

Auckland University of Technology boasts over 60 research centers that provide cutting-edge research on a wide range of topics. These include space research, artificial intelligence, robotics, ecology, physical activity, and nutrition.

The City Campus is well-equipped with various facilities to meet the needs of its students. It boasts a Central Library that houses an impressive collection of books and journals spread across four floors. Apart from this, the campus also has cafes, restaurants, and bars for the convenience of its occupants. Additionally, it features several centers, such as early childhood, Chinese, and postgraduate centers, along with Pasifika Student Support Service and Te Tari Awhina Learning Development Centre.

Study the Bachelor of Architecture and Future Environments,and learn to prepare and present building design projects of varying scales and complexity.

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to the Auckland University of Technology

  • International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
  • You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Please note:- If you are not a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of New Zealand, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to New Zealand.
