It is essential for those who are going to take the SAT to have a full comprehension of the results and scores. The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is marked with a 400-1600 scale, which may be puzzling for many students in India as they are more accustomed to using percentages or percentiles. This is a brief guide to help students gain a thorough understanding of SAT results as well as the essential dates and other pertinent details.

SAT Test Dates and Results

It usually takes around 10 days for SAT scores to be delivered to universities after the release date. The following is an overview of the SAT results and test dates.

SAT Score Reports

The SAT report will typically include some important information. This includes:

  • The Total Score is the combined score from the two sections and can range from 400 to 1600.
  • The Sectional Score is based on how the applicant performed in the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math sections, and this number is between 200 and 800.
  • There are also Subscores for each section, which measure different types of questions and range from 1 to 15.
  • If the candidate took the SAT with the Essay, they will acquire scores between 2 and 8 in three categories: Essay Reading, Essay Analysis, and Essay Writing. These will be listed in a section named Essay Details.
  • The percentile ranking of the students will show how they performed on the SAT examination in comparison to other test-takers.

How to calculate aggregate SAT scores?

You can receive a total score on the SAT between 400 and 1600, which is calculated by adding the scores received from the two sections. The raw score for each section, which is calculated by the number of questions answered correctly, is then converted to a 200 to 800 scale. This is due to the fact that different versions of the SAT can be slightly more difficult or easier.

For instance, the Math Test always has 58 questions and a raw score of 57 will give you an 800 on the scale, whereas on other versions all 58 questions must be answered correctly. This process of balancing various test versions and ensuring equivalent scaled scores is called equating.

How to Check SAT Score?

In order to access your SAT score report, the following steps have to be taken:

  • Visit the website of the College Board.
  • Login to your account with the username and password.
  • Head to the My Organiser section and click on SAT Scores.
  • Enter the username and password again.
  • Go to My Test Scores and the scores will be displayed.
  • Score Choice can be used to send reports to various colleges.

Cost of Sending SAT Score Report to Colleges

When you sign up for the exam, you will receive four free score reports that can be used anytime within the period between registration and nine days after the test day. Later on, you can dispatch your scores to universities for a cost of $11.25 per report. Generally, SAT scores get to the colleges around ten days after the score announcement.

If you need to send them earlier, you can select the 'Rush Reporting' option for an expense of $31 for the first report and $11.25 for each extra score sent. The Rush Reporting option will ensure that the universities get your scores within two days from the time you place your order.

SAT Scores Cancelation

If your results on the SAT are not up to your expectations, you have the option to revoke those scores so that they do not get sent to your intended schools. According to the College Board website, you must cancel your scores by 11:59 pm Eastern Time (9:29 am in India) on the Thursday following your test date. Once you have submitted the request to cancel your scores, they cannot be restored.

If you want to cancel your SAT scores at the center, you can ask the test coordinator for an SAT Request to Cancel Test Scores form and submit it before leaving.

Alternatively, you can download the form from the College Board website and send it by fax to 610-290-8978. International applicants can mail the form to SAT Score Cancellation, 1425 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing, NJ 08618.
