About University of Southampton Boldrewood Innovation Campus

Located near the green spaces of Southampton Common, Boldrewood Campus is our newest campus. It’s home to our engineering and maritime engineering courses and has a number of world-class testing and research laboratories.

Our campuses are where you'll have your lectures and classes. Each campus is a community of related subject areas, with study spaces, libraries, cafes and restaurants. Some also have gym and sports facilities. No matter which campus your studies are based at, you can use the facilities at any campus.

University of Southampton Boldrewood Innovation Campus Accomodation

Find your new home in our university student accommodation. We have options to live close to campuses or in the city centre, and affordable rooms to suit your budget and lifestyle. We also offer some postgraduate options.

Each hall is divided into flats, with single-occupancy bedrooms sharing a communal kitchen area. Our halls also have areas for socialising and laundry, and some have gyms and leisure facilities too.

We offer lots of different types of room in our 7 halls of residence.

Learn how to make the world sound better, with a specialist knowledge of acoustics, vibration and how they affect us. This acoustical engineering degree specialises in sound and our response to it. You'll study at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, a leading centre for Acoustical Engineering.

This acoustical engineering course looks at how acoustics - the science of sound and vibration - is applied in technology. It has many applications, including:

  • Design of cars
  • 3D-audio systems
  • Designing concert halls
  • Reducing aircraft noise
  • Using ultrasound to fight antimicrobial resistance

This UK acoustic engineering degree includes practical work throughout, including lab work. Our projects will allow you to design, build and test components and systems with enhanced acoustic properties. You'll gain the confidence to creatively solve engineering problems.

You'll have access to our world-class acoustic and engineering facilities, which include:

Gain a Masters-level knowledge of acoustics, sound and vibration and use it to make the world sound better. This acoustical engineering master's will provide fundamental engineering knowledge and a specialist understanding of acoustics. You'll study at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, a leading centre for Acoustical Engineering.

MEng Acoustical Engineering looks at how acoustics - the science of sound and vibration - is applied in technology. It has many applications, including:

Learn to hear music in a new way, and discover how sound and vibration can affect us and the world around. This Acoustics with Music degree combines musical composition and critical analysis with acoustical engineering. Whether you sing opera, play guitar solos or make electronic dance music, we'll help you develop.

This degree provides a broad-based education in sound and technology as well as musical engineering, theory and performance. The modular nature of the course means you'll choose how you balance Acoustical Engineering and Music modules.

You'll use our extensive Music facilities, including:

  • Dedicated rehearsal rooms
  • Ensemble practice spaces
  • Electronic studios
  • Networked multimedia workstations

You'll study Acoustics at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, a leading centre for Acoustical Engineering. You'll use our world-class acoustic and engineering facilities, which include:

Our astronautics and aeronautics undergraduate degree covers advanced aerospace engineering. You'll learn how to design and manufacture fast-moving aircraft in the Earth’s atmosphere and outer space.

The course looks at the science, engineering and manufacture of aircraft, jet engines, race cars and spacecraft. You'll learn how they operate within our atmosphere and in space. Your degree will be aligned to the UK Space Agency Civil Space Strategy.

You'll study the principles of aerospace engineering including aerodynamics, astronautics and propulsion. You'll also explore the economic, legal and environmental issues around aircraft and spacecraft. You'll get hands-on experience in extensive facilities, which include:

  • Dedicated student design studios and workshops
  • The largest wind tunnel in any UK university
  • State-of-the-art space propulsion facilities
  • Jet laboratory with supersonic ramjet, turbojet and rocket engine
  • Boeing flight simulator
