The University of Sharjah has experienced rapid growth, expanding its scope to include 14 colleges that provide over 111 varied academic programs at different levels such as diploma, bachelor's, master's, and PhD in diverse academic programs in fields such as Sharia and Islamic Studies, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Health Sciences, Communication, Medicine, Computing, and Informatics. Tuition fees for undergraduate programs in Sharjah range from AED 30,000 to AED 70,000 per academic year. Postgraduate program fees range from AED 40,000 to AED 90,000 per academic year. University of Sharjah Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission


All applicants must satisfy the following basic admission requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education or an equivalent level is required, with the average obtained no earlier than three years before joining the University. 
  • To gain admission to the University of Success, every student must exhibit an English language proficiency that aligns with the standards set by their respective college. IELTS (Academic) or IELTS Computer-Based score - 5.0; Paper-Based TOEFL - 500; EmSAT - 1225.
  • The applicant must be medically, physically, and mentally fit, and provide proof of immunization against major blood-borne viral infections to be accepted into the university for their desired major.
  • Applicants should specify their preferred majors on the application form.
  • Students are accepted into colleges based on quotas, grades, preferences, and competitive outcomes. Priority is given to UAE citizens and high-achieving students.
  • Applicants must submit the application form, required documents, and pay AED 360 by the specified deadlines to the Admissions Department.
  • Meeting grade and admission requirements, submitting an application and paying fees does not guarantee admission to the University. Students must also pay a nonrefundable reservation fee based on specific criteria. This fee is applied towards tuition if the student enrolls.
  • Applicants to the Colleges of Medicine and Dental Medicine pay a non-refundable 1500 AED fee for their applications to be considered in the admissions process.
  • Applicants in their seats get conditional admission until final results are submitted and meet competitive criteria.
  • A student needs a complete admission file to get an ID and register for courses.
  • Students accepted conditionally must fulfill admission requirements within a specified time to continue studying at the university.


Graduate Admission


  • The student must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00. CGPA between 2.5 and 2.99 may be accepted conditionally.
  • The degree must be in a qualifying major for the master's program.
  • Students must meet the English language proficiency requirement: a score of 1400 in EmSAT English exam, 550 in TOEFL (ITP) or equivalent, or 6 in IELTS. Admissions may be considered for students with an EmSAT score of 1250 or equivalent in another accredited English proficiency test such as TOEFL (ITP) with a score of 530 or IELTS with a score of 5.5, subject to additional conditions.
  • Students in Arabic-language programs are required to pass an English language course in their first semester, unless they achieve a score of 950 in an EmSAT exam, 450 in TOEFL (ITP), or 4.5 in IELTS. Certain programs, such as the Master in Applied Sociology and Master in Law, have specific TOEFL score requirements of 950 in EmSAT, 450 in TOEFL (ITP), or 4.5 in IELTS.
  • Male Emirati students aged 18 to 30 years old must submit a 'no objection of study certificate' from the national service authorities.
  • Approval letter from Kuwait Embassy Cultural Office for Kuwaiti students only.
  • Attachment of People of Determination card (if applicable).
  • If the student is employed at a specific agency, please include a letter from the employer confirming their employment.
