About California State University San Bernardino

California State University, San Bernardino is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in Inland Southern California. Opened in 1965 and set at the foothills of the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains, the university serves more than 20,000 students each year and graduates about 4,000 students annually.

The "value added" by a CSUSB education ranks in the top 4 percent in the nation, according to the Collegiate Learning Assessment, a sequence of tests used by hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide that measure student learning in the freshman and then in the senior year. First-to-second year retention rates are third highest among all CSU campuses.

CSUSB reflects the dynamic diversity of the region and has the most diverse student population of any university in the Inland Empire, and it has the second highest African American and Hispanic enrollments of all public universities in California. Seventy percent of those who graduate are the first in their families to do so.

The university offers more than 70 traditional baccalaureate and master's degree programs, education credential and certificate programs, and a doctoral program. In recent years, CSUSB added its first doctorate (educational leadership), engineering program (computer science and engineering) and M.F.A. programs in creative writing and studio art/design. Every CSUSB academic program that is eligible has earned national accreditation. The university also is home to the California Professor of the Year (Stuart Sumida).

On-Campus Housing
Living On Campus is one of the most unique experiences you will experience as a college student. Unlike off-campus living, living on the CSUSB campus provides students with a unique living environment where all of your neighbors are students just like you. The Department of Housing and Residential Education can put you in touch with campus activities, faculty and so much more!

Living off campus
Living off campus can also be very appealing to the various populations of commuter students. Living close to school allows students to “take a break” from school by not always being on campus. Additionally, it helps students learn valuable life lessons that come with living on your own.  Below are a few resources that can help you find housing locally.

I had a great time studying at Cal State University.

I graduated last December and had a wonderful experience. The teachers here are supportive, friendly and really cared about the students. My time at CSU was very fruitful. I have made a lot of friends here, most of whom are from other countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy and Spain. Since we were an international campus, it was not hard at all to find friends. The campus life at CSU is absolutely amazing. There is a lot going on around campus. There are different clubs like CSI and anime clubs for people who love to explore their creative side. There are also sports clubs for kinds of sports like bowling, cycling and even dancing. The recreational facilities are great. There is a swimming pool, two gyms, a football field, two tennis courts, two basketball courts and a huge green area where people play softball, baseball, volleyball and soccer.

Enjoyed my time over there

My experience at college was nice was great. The faculty there was very helpful and we had a lot of fun. The college had a standard curriculum, but what I loved about it was its focus on practical projects. It is located in a small city, so there is not much to do after class. But if you are the type of person who likes to stay in and watch movies or play video games, you will never have any problem finding friends.
