On-Campus Housing
UConn has among the highest percentage of students living on campus of any public university in the nation, so your friends will always be around — days, nights, and weekends. UConn housing offerings include residence halls, suites, and apartments, each with their own amenities. Enjoy cable TV, high-speed internet, volleyball courts, makerspaces, game rooms, study lounges — you might never want to leave. In addition, 20 Living/Learning Communities and several Special Interest Housing options provide the opportunity to live with friends who share your interests, lifestyle, or commitment to a major.

At UConn Stamford, students can apply to live in apartment-style University housing located at the center of a vibrant city, steps from campus, internship opportunities, cultural experiences, and more. 

Off-Campus Housing
The UConn Avery Point campus does not have on-campus residence halls.  All students are commuters with some commuting from their homes as well as a good number living in apartment complexes or private homes in the immediate area.  Public transportation is available from many locations off-campus and there is a public bus stop on the campus.  In addition, UConn Dining Services operates out of Mort’s Café in our Student Center and a varied Meal Program is available for all students.  Due to strong student interest in our four-year degree programs, particularly Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies, and the success of our athletic programs, we attract many students from outside the southeastern Connecticut area who are living independently off-campus.

This means that UConn Stamford students have incredible opportunities for internships, field placements, and jobs with prestigious companies such as Fortune 500, banks, investment firms, and local organizations.UConn Stamford provides various avenues for discovering events and engaging in Student Activities.

UConn provides students with a diverse selection of over 700 clubs and organizations to join, allowing them to pursue their interests and discover new ones. Moreover, the university boasts a remarkable Student Recreation Center that spans three floors and covers 191,000 square feet, ensuring students have plenty of room to participate in various activities and stay involved.

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Art provides you with the best of two worlds: the intimacy of a small and vibrant art school, situated within an intellectually engaging major research university. Here it is possible to follow your passions for studio art in its many forms, art history, design, or visual storytelling (in still and moving images), while also exploring literature, history, sciences, and so much more. Students have access to a wide array of art-making and exhibition spaces, as well as emergent and convergent methods and technologies.

Undergraduate education in business is designed to impart a broad base of general knowledge within which students pursue additional knowledge to become exceptional managerial and business leaders. The curricula seek to expand capacities, perspectives, and skills of students who wish direct preparation for careers in either business firms or the public service.

In addition to the business programs leading to the Bachelor of Science, a Management and Engineering for Manufacturing bachelor’s degree program is offered jointly with the School of Engineering and is described at the end of the list of business majors in this section of the Catalog.

Data are a new economic asset of the 21st century that touches all aspects of the society. Business Data Analytics Program provides a business degree with a special emphasis in the application of data analytics to business problems. Students will acquire a set of practical data analytics skills including understanding patterns in data, applying analytical frameworks, constructing predictive models, analyzing social networks and discovering hidden relationships in data. Students will learn how to present data using modern visualization techniques, and will get acquainted with the state of the art data analytics software.

This program produces graduates with a broad understanding of both computing principles and computing practice. The program emphasizes the fundamental computing models through the design and analysis of algorithms and software. Included in the program is coursework in a computing application area outside of the School of Engineering such as business or bioinformatics. The program is supported by study in mathematics, science, and engineering. Students gain hands-on experience in the laboratory courses accompanying classroom work, and develop design skills in course work beginning in the first two years. Design experience continues in junior and senior years in the areas of software engineering and in applications areas of the student’s choosing, culminating in the one semester Senior Design Project course.

Digital Media and Design majors must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7 for all graded coursework at the University of Connecticut. Digital Media and Design majors must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 based on all courses required within the Digital Media and Design majors.

At the end of each semester, students with a grade point deficiency will be placed on departmental scholastic probation. During the subsequent semester, the student will have the opportunity to improve their standing. In the event that the student’s standing does not rise to the minimum level, they will be subject to dismissal from the Digital Media and Design major.
