The UMSL experience

MSM Group University of Missouri St. Louis Scholarships

Freshmen should apply for FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) by February 1st.  It is preferable to file your FAFSA as early as possible for priority consideration for all scholarships and state grants.

Undergraduate Students are eligible for:

  • Federal Grants
  • State Grants
  • Federal Work Study
  • Federal Stafford Loans
  • Federal PLUS Loans

Also be sure to check for any relevant scholarships.  Freshman applying for scholarships should complete the UMSL scholarship application by January 1st and the FAFSA by February 1st. Students must be admitted to UMSL for scholarship consideration. 

In general International Students are not eligible for scholarships. There are a select few scholarships for which International Students may apply and they can do so by submitting the online scholarship application.  Students should also contact the departments of their majors to learn about opportunities there.

Living on campus

The Office of Residential Life and Housing at the University of Missouri–St. Louis is committed to providing on-campus housing and maintaining a living and learning environment that encourages academic success, student engagement, personal growth, and community responsibility.

Living on campus offers you the opportunity to develop new and lasting relationships, save on the time and cost of commuting, become even more involved on campus, and take full advantage of campus resources. Plus the Residential Life experience is shown to result in higher grade point averages and promote positive on-track graduation rates.

All of our options are affordable, conveniently located on campus, have amazing amenities on site, and live-in staff that are here to assist you.

Students at UMSL have the option to live on-campus or off-campus.

On-campus housing is open to undergraduates and graduate students through our Office of Residence Life. On-campus options include:

 Oak Hall Residence Hall
Oak Hall is a 400 room dormitory that offers the complete on-campus housing experience. This dorm features full-furnished rooms in a suite-style set-up.
 
Mansion Hill Apartments
Mansion Hill offers private 1-2 bedroom apartments that are on-campus and administered by UMSL. You can choose between furnished or unfurnished accommodations.

University Meadows

The Meadows is private apartment complex that offers on-campus apartments for students looking for apartment style housing. Private and shared apartments are available.

For today's students, the University of Missouri–St. Louis campus is the ideal setting and learning environment. The 470-acre campus in suburban St. Louis County is home to a mix of modern and antique academic buildings, as well as student housing halls, condominiums, and flats.

Many facilities are available to University of Missouri students, including a recreation center, a student union, athletics, student health and wellness center, on-campus restaurants, and more.

Many International Student Ambassadors events are held at the university, including movie nights, quiz and game nights, theme park visits, international cultural nights, and theme park trips.

The BS in Accounting is a 120-credit-hour program that requires 30-credit hours of core business courses, 18-credit hours of Accounting courses, 60-credit hours of non-business courses, and 12-credit hours of approved electives.

The core business courses include financial and managerial accounting, legal environment of business, information systems concepts, business analytics and statistics, financial management, management and organizational behavior and more. The required Accounting courses include financial reporting, accounting information systems, income tax and auditing.

The BS in Actuarial Science is an interdisciplinary degree designed to provide students with solid preparation to take exams needed to begin a career as an actuary by providing students with the quantitative skills used by actuaries. Students are required to complete courses offered by the College of Arts & Sciences as well as the College of Business Administration. Students take coursework in calculus, financial mathematics, statistics, economics, econometrics, accounting and finance.

To become an actuary students must meet specific requirements of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) including: Pass the exams and requirements administered by the SOA, fulfill Validated Educational Experience (VEE) courses offered outside the SOA, and undertake additional professional training provided by the SOA.

The BA in Applied Psychology of Child Advocacy Studies prepares students to be trauma-informed professionals who respond appropriately to experiences of traumatic stress and maltreatment in children and adolescents. This applicable, innovative and accessible degree prepares graduates to move into a variety of child serving sectors. This interdisciplinary program is enhanced by hands-on skill development, immersive learning experiences and mentoring from professionals in the workforce and is one of the first three majors of its kind in the country.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an Emphasis in Art Education prepares students for a career in Art Education. Students who successfully complete all portions of the program will be fully certified to teach Art to grades K-12 in the state of Missouri. Art Education students complete a foundation art program plus additional courses that provide experience with a broad range of studio processes. To be certified, students must pass the Art K-12 Missouri Content Assessment and demonstrate competence in nine Missouri Teaching Standards as documented in a final electronic portfolio called the Missouri Pre-Service Teacher Assessment. Note that K-12 Art certification is grouped with Secondary Education by both DESE and the College of Education.

MSM Group University of Missouri St. Louis Admission Requirements

Admission to the University of Missouri-St. Louis is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies. 

  • The minimum age of applying for any program is 18 years. 
  • Students should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit translated copies of the same along with the originals.
