About Northern Arizona University Flagstaff Campus

Northern Arizona University—or Arizona Normal College as it was named back then—opened its doors in 1899 with 23 students, two faculty members (one, Almon Nicholas Taylor, was also the school president), and two copies of Webster’s International Dictionary bound in sheepskin.

“Recruitment” was a little different then—the first president scoured the countryside in horse and buggy seeking students to fill the classrooms of the single school building (now known as Old Main). In 1901, the first graduating class consisted of four women who received credentials to teach in the Arizona Territory.

Obliged!

I have been fortunate enough to receive financial aid from my university and it has helped me be able to afford my education. With the addition of financial aid, I was able to pay for my books, tuition, and other fees that were required so that I could attend school. I am thankful for the financial aid that I receive.

Dynamic college atmosphere

The majority of the professors are excellent at engaging with students, assisting them, and building relationships. The campus is lovely, with excellent study areas and dining options. They provide cooperative guidance to students and maintain an atmosphere in which we can thrive and grow. The college also offers seminars on personality development, abilities, and career options, all of which are highly helpful in their decision-making process. Several competitions offered at the college allow everyone to discover and develop their hidden abilities. The college atmosphere is particularly dynamic, cheerful, and joyful as a result of the numerous days celebrated on campus. Because to the Library's assistance, I was able to access a wide range of scholarly literature. The cuisine was great, and the atmosphere on campus was welcoming.

Know your professors

The professors and staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a strong sense of community on campus. Teachers and staff genuinely care about their students, and they go out of their way to ensure that students and staff alike feel involved, and that a sense of community and belonging exists. Students can also seek assistance from faculty members for projects and workshops. The student-to-faculty ratio is small, allowing you to get to know all of your professors. Students are pushed to learn about the industry in class.

Spacious campus

The campus is wide and spacious, with a gym, a swimming pool, and a football field among its amenities. The teachers assist you with your study needs and provide tips and tricks in between readings and tasks. If you require more assistance, there is a 24-hour helpline available, and the institution provides a variety of disability-related services. The university works to create, share, and apply new knowledge, scholarship, and artistry.

My experience at Northern Arizona University was overall a good one.

The campus was really nice and clean, but needed some improvements. In my opinion, the professors were quite helpful and there was always a good interaction between students and professors. The curriculum was industry oriented. The campus was huge, with restaurants and student clubs on every corner. The campus had a lot of trees, that was something refreshing for me. I was able to join a lot of clubs: debate team, poetry club, dance team, language exchange. There were also a lot of fun events in the campus such as spring festival, Halloween party. Campus life was very vibrant and lively, I always felt safe and it was a lot of fun.
