Louisiana State University

Shorelight Group Louisiana State University Accomodation

While waiting to receive your official LSU acceptance packet, you should start thinking about whether you want to live on- or off-campus. If you want to live on campus, research on-campus housing options by visiting LSU Residential Life's housing options You should also remember that international students are required to arrive to campus a few weeks early to attend international student orientation, and you may need temporary housing for this time.

Living On-Campus

Once you are admitted to LSU, a MyLSU account will be created for you and you will receive an email from your host coordinator with your MyLSU ID (identification) and instructions for how to log on. You will receive a separate email with your password. The email from your host coordinator will also have instructions on how to apply for on-campus housing. If you want to live on-campus, you should apply online for housing and pay the $150 deposit through Residential Life immediately. Housing is limited and assigned on a first-come first-serve basis. If you wait too long, on-campus housing may not be available. Dorm and apartment rates can be found on the Residential Life website.

Important Note to ISEP Participants: You will be given a housing stipend that can be used to pay for on- or off-campus housing. If you want to live on-campus, you must still apply online via the Residential Life website. The amount of the stipend will be sufficient to cover a two-student dorm room with a shared bathroom. If you choose a more expensive on-campus housing option, such as East or West Campus Apartments, you will be responsible for the cost difference.

Living Off-Campus
We recommend on-campus housing since it allows you greater opportunities to benefit from campus activities and to meet your fellow students. Academic Programs Abroad does not assist with housing searches, so if you decide to live off-campus, you will be responsible for finding your housing. If you decide to live off-campus, you will likely be responsible for providing your own furniture, and should expect to pay for utilities and cable services in addition to rent. You should try to find housing near campus or near an LSU bus route for easy transportation to class.
