The University of South Carolina (USC) has a stunning 359-acre main campus in downtown Columbia. It has state-of-the-art academic and administrative buildings, athletic facilities, university residences, dining options, parking areas, green spaces, and pathways. In addition to the main campus, USC also operates seven satellite campuses in Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, Union, Aiken, Beaufort, and Upstate. Each satellite campus offers excellent academic facilities, including modern classrooms, high-tech laboratories, and lecture halls, facilitating advanced learning and research. University libraries are the primary sources of information for students and faculty, providing access to printed and digital resources. Moreover, USC offers free Wi-Fi and transportation services to its students.

Our aerospace engineering program provides a strong foundation in engineering science and engineering design as applied to aerospace materials and structures, including their mechanical and aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors. In addition to taking engineering courses, you will work in project groups, acquiring social skills to work in multi-disciplinary environments and learning how to present your work effectively. Through the design and lab work, you’ll gain hands-on, real life experience that will shape you into responsible and innovative aerospace engineers.

Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary program highly focused on the improvement of human health, combining the innovative skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to improve health care from diagnostics to treatment.

As a biomedical engineering major, you will develop the ability to identify, formulate and solve open-ended problems at the interface of engineering and medicine using skills acquired in mathematics; biological, chemical and physical sciences; and engineering. You will also learn how to communicate technical material, function on a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility, continue along a path of lifelong learning, and recognize economic, social and global issues related to the profession.

You will enjoy courses with hands-on laboratory components as well as a senior capstone design sequence, during which you will work on problems defined by doctors or biomedical engineering industries. You will also be encouraged to get involved with research opportunities.

The Computer Engineering degree is for students interested in both programming and hardware. The required classes cover software engineering, computer science, and electric and digital circuit designs.

Computer engineering integrates electronic engineering with computer sciences. Computer engineers design and develop computer systems and components for computation, control, data storage, input/output and networking. Computer engineers integrate these components into computer and network systems. This requires a good working knowledge of both computer science and electrical engineering.

Computer engineers work in technology industries involving computer systems design and related services. They may work in research and development in the physical, engineering and life sciences, or they may work in environments with computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing, semiconductor and other electronic component manufacturing, or in government.
