The University of New Haven’s interdisciplinary major in Esports and Gaming is designed to maximize the strengths of our programs in business, technology, engineering, and computer science to create pioneering opportunities that prepare our students to be the future leaders in this high-growth field.

We have created a unique program that enables you to gain a well-rounded, holistic, and pertinent education in the world of esports and gaming. We will prepare you to excel in this ever-evolving industry, which comprises game publishers, athletes, coaches, trainers, publicists, broadcasters, the media platforms the games are streamed on, brands that sponsor the teams, and, of course, the fans.

Our academic partnerships with major esports and gaming entities such as Twitch and HyperX ensure that you’re at the cutting edge of industry trends and learning. Since new technologies and games are always just around the corner, the industry requires people who can think critically and anticipate future cultural, business, and technological changes and opportunities. Pick an interdisciplinary concentration
What makes our program in Esports and Gaming unique is its truly interdisciplinary nature. In addition to core classes in businesses, our unique concentrations enable you to take courses in the School of Health Sciences, the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, and the Tagliatela College of Engineering.

• Corruption and Gambling Concentration. You will learn to evaluate how competitors are coerced into behaving corruptly and how to explain the effects of organized crime on gambling in esports.
• Game Studies Concentration: You will learn how to develop a game narrative using contemporary gaming techniques and how to analyze games for dimensions of social responsibility.
• Esports Performance and Health Concentration. You will learn to assess health factors that impact esports participants’ overall potential performance and how to implement behavioral strategies that promote health among esports competitors.

Accountants have the critical task of providing a comprehensive picture of a company’s financial health so that business owners can make informed decisions that directly impact their company’s bottom line. That is why the field of accounting is a breeding ground for business leaders. In fact, John D. Rockefeller, widely considered the wealthiest American of all time and the richest person in modern history, starting working at age 16 as an accountant. Today, more than half of Fortune 100 CEOs have a degree in business, economics, or accounting.

As an accounting major at the University of New Haven, you’ll participate in a well-rounded education that goes beyond the numbers. You’ll learn how to impart technologically-driven insight and even solve white-collar crimes.

The program offers three tracks. You will choose one of the following:

• Financial accounting: This is the track if you want to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Corporate accounting: You’ll develop the skills necessary to thrive in the corporate environment and become a CMA (Certified Management Accountant).
• Forensic accounting: Focus on financial crimes, including investigation and white-collar crime, through coursework in accounting and through the world-renowned Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences.

Whether your goal is to become an entrepreneur or to pursue a career in a Fortune 500 company, a University of New Haven degree in business management will help you discover your niche and prepare you to set your sights on the top of the corporate ladder.

You’ll learn what it takes to manage staff, develop workable action plans, accomplish major goals, and thrive in the global business environment. You will be immersed in a leadership-building curriculum that includes courses in accounting, finance, marketing, economics, quantitative analysis, business law, and data management.

You can pursue our general management concentration, or you choose from one of these focus areas:

The ultimate goal of economics is to improve the quality of life for all, but the ultimate reality of economics is that the resources to do that are limited. Choices and trade-offs are, therefore, a given. Where do we direct those limited resources? What are we willing to give up in order to make something else happen? It’s a complicated balance, and it’s the job of an economist to guide informed decision making. Because of the magnitude of this work, salaries for economics graduates are among the highest of any discipline.

The University of New Haven’s B.A. in Economics provides a balanced curriculum of liberal arts, business, and industry management, alongside history and politics. This gives you the big-picture viewpoint and detailed knowledge you need to make decisions for the greater good, and to assist others in doing the same.

• General Economics: Provides a broad view of economic principles.
• Behavioral Economics: Focuses on game theory, behavior, and decision making under uncertainty.
