About Fleming College - Sutherland Campus (Peterborough)
Fleming College, known as the Sir Sanford Fleming College, was established in 1967. It is a public institute named after a well-known engineer and inventor, Sanford Fleming, who gave his contributions to the idea of Universal Standard Time. In 1965, the institute established the College of Applied Arts and Technology. It is governed and managed by the executive staff and a Board of Governors. The institute is affiliated with the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, ACCC, and the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives.
Fleming College also works in partnership with Trent University. It has four different campus locations, namely Sutherland campus, Cobourg campus, Haliburton campus, and the Frost campus.
Fleming College has 71,000 alumni and around 6,200 full-time and part-time students. It offers over 100 full-time programs in Arts and Heritage, Business, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, General Arts and Sciences, Health and Wellness, Justice and Community Development, Skilled Trades and Technology, and Continuing Education comprise the college's academic structure. The college is well-known for its environmental and natural sciences programs, as well as its social services. Students can pick from a variety of courses based on their areas of interest.

Sutherland campus is the main campus of Fleming College, located close to downtown Peterborough's dynamic. The campus is a dynamic academic community offering professional faculty and best-in-class, innovative learning settings. It also offers a variety of part-time and contract training opportunities, along with dual credit courses in collaboration with local school districts.
The campus is home to numerous student services and facilities, including athletic sports fields, residence buildings, the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre, green space, and more. It is also close to restaurants, cafes, departmental stores, and chemist shops. Students face no inconvenience at the campus as the institute's public conveyance is easily accessible. The campus has a well-maintained infrastructure organized by the management authorities of the institution.
Accommodation
Fleming College provides excellent campus accommodations for its students, allowing them to feel at ease despite being thousands of miles away. Friendly faculty, plenty of social events, and comfortable spaces help students adjust to college life at Fleming College's Peterborough and Lindsay campuses. Single bedrooms, a shared living area, a kitchen, and two bathrooms are included in suite-style rooms. There is also a laundry facility on site.
Scholarships
College offers a proportion of 1,500,000 CAD annually as bursaries and scholarships. International aspirants seeking to avail scholarships to study in Canada can apply to FC. The available awards are both merit and need-based.

While applying to the college, students should meet some standard eligibility criteria:
- The student should be at least 18 years of age at the time of beginning the course.
- Students from non-English speaking countries must take IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams to prove their language proficiency.
- Students need to provide original transcripts from all the academic institutions before making any application request (If the original transcripts are not in English, students need to submit the translated copies of the same with each original document).
