Great Plains College was formerly known as Cypress Hills Regional College. It is a post-secondary college located in western Saskatchewan. Cypress Hills began offering courses in 1973; it merged with Prairie West College to become Great Plains College in 2008. Great Plains College is located in Saskatchewan and it's one of the most prominent region-specific colleges within a larger system. The college focuses on meeting the needs of learners, employers and communities within the Saskatonian area as well as throughout all of western Canada. At campuses across western Saskatchewan, Great Plains College offers students post-secondary training and education in a variety of disciplines. The college supports an array of student needs including health, dental and other benefits that help students feel at home while they attend classes.
The college strives to provide for the distinct needs of the service area by challenging everyone to continually build a responsive, innovative and results-oriented institution. As a result, Great Plains College was the first regional college in Saskatchewan to introduce a health and dental plan for its students and also proudly boasts one of the strongest scholarship programs in all of Canada.

There are no student residences on the Great Plains College campus. On the close proximity of campus, students will find rooms for rent, studio apartments and flats. At Great Plains College, there is an option of Homestay that matches the student with a host family who assists them in adjusting to their new surroundings and provides guidance and directions.

University Transfer Options
Admission to Great Plains College - Swift Current Campus is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which a student applies.
- Student should be at least 18 years old before taking admission
- Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or other equivalent exams
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit translated copies of the same along with the originals.
