Northwest Community College, also known as Coast Mountain College, is a high-ranked post-secondary academic institution located in Northern British Columbia. The college was established in 1975 at Terrace under the name North West Community College and was renamed CMTN in 2018. Today, it has six regional campuses in British Columbia: Queen Charlotte, Prince Rupert, Hazelton, Haida Gwaii, Smithers and Terrace.
Coast Mountain College provides a diverse range of programs in various different subjects. The college provides an experiential learning experience both in the classrooms and in the outdoor spaces, with opportunities to take part in educational adventure camps. The aim is to promote students’ development beyond what they learn and practice on campus by providing them with meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning with community application as well as facilitate their future success through lifelong learning. These programs include different certificates, associate degrees, engineering programs and other career-related skills courses.
Thirty-plus courses are offered by the college in these fields. Some of them are associate degrees in Arts, business administration, public administration, early childhood care and assistance, education assistance etc.
Services and Facilities
The campus provides a range of facilities to students including a library, IT services, food services, transportation services, just to name a few. The campus has several digital textbooks, merchandise and course material and ensures that the students get access to the best virtual labs, IT facilities, internet etc.
College campuses provide students with safe and secure environments where they may live their daily lives without worrying about anything. There are counsellors available to help the students deal with any worries that they might have, and also sports facilities where students can participate in sporting events whenever they feel inspired to do so. In addition, there are public transportation options available for students who need assistance getting to and from campus; these features allow for freedom for college-goers to choose how they want to get around on campus. Besides, various types of conferences and events are also held on the campus for the students.
College provides housing facilities to international students on the Terrace campus. Here, students are provided with a range of facilities including, internet, parking, laundry, kitchen, cafeteria etc. In addition to this, dining facilities are available for students on campus.
Through a range of scholarships, the college covers students who do not have the financial ability to meet their education costs. It offers thirty plus international student entrance awards. Some of them are:

The college has a huge alumni network of around 40 years who are spread all across the globe. Through a range of activities and events, the college tries to keep alumni connected to the campus. Stan Persky- Writer (Media Commenter and Instructor), Jennifer Rice (Politician), George Stanley (Poet) and Skeena Reece (Artist) are some of the most notable alumni of the college.

Admission to Coast Mountain College - Prince Rupert Campus is subject to certain requirements and the eligibility requirements vary as per the program a student applies to. However, there are certain requirements that every student must keep in mind before applying to the college:
- Student should be at least 18 years old before taking admission
- Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or other equivalent exams
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended.
