This full-time certificate program will equip you with fundamental business administration skills and knowledge that can be applied to a variety of entry-level jobs. Through the program, you will learn computer literacy, numeracy, cross-cultural communications and other skills needed in various businesses and industries, as well as develop basic knowledge in accounting, management, economics, marketing, and organizational structures.

Upon completing the program, you will have an excellent foundation in business and an opportunity to further your studies. Currently, under proposal, graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for direct entry to the 2nd year of the Q College two-year Business Administration, Web Tech Specialty Diploma program.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the program, you will have demonstrated basic functions essential in business such as:

• Knowledge of basic accounting systems, as well as the ability to apply accounting accumulation principles, do external reporting, and expertly use financial accounting information.
• Preparing and analyzing accounting information for the use of shareholders and managements in partnerships and corporations.
• Familiarity with individual and group behavior in an organization.
• Knowledge of basic computer terminology, Windows, and the use of Microsoft Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with how the economy impacts businesses, industries, and government decisions.
• Knowledge of population trends in North America from a cross-cultural perspective and the roles culture plays in social and business interactions.
• Able to solve financial and math problems regularly encountered in business.
• An understanding of management functions such as planning, organizing, leading, and organization control.
• Awareness of the marketing mix known as the 4 Ps of marketing — product, price, place, and promotion.

The purpose of the Business Administration diploma program is to provide students with the fundamentals of business administration skills and knowledge along with the essential skills necessary to design and develop websites.

Students will learn skills needed in business and industry such as computer literacy, numeracy, and cross- cultural communications as well as develop a basic knowledge of accounting, management, economics, marketing, organizational structures, business law, human resource management and services marketing.

Students will also develop the practical skills to build and maintain HTML/CSS and WordPress web sites, manage Multi-Channel Digital Marketing, and design for the web using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. A final course is a capstone project defined by the student to develop a business plan, solve a potential business problem, establish a new system, develop a new product or service; which requires the integration of multiple courses taught in the Business Administration – Web Tech & Digital Marketing Specialty Diploma Program.

• Understanding of the expanded seven Ps of marketing service, and the ability to apply a gap analysis framework towards making service improvements and expansions.
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain a website; to code for the web and mobile, to set up and maintain a content management system, and to employ digital marketing strategies and tools to maximize a website’s potential.
• Substantial knowledge of confronting business challenges by integrating business and technical skills for a key purpose.

A full-stack developer works with both the front and back end of a website or application. They’re familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and one or more back end languages.

The program is designed to equip you with the skills to create WordPress-powered websites and extensions capable of optimizing exposure and maximizing conversions. You will also develop skills in using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe XD.
