About Red River College Polytechnic Innovation Centre

Red River College Polytechnic (RRC Polytech) is Manitoba’s largest institute of applied learning and research, with more than 200 full- and part-time degree, diploma and certificate options. Through hands-on and online learning opportunities and state-of-the-art instruction, we prepare our students to become leaders in their fields — while also ensuring they can meet changing industry demands, and contribute to the province’s economic growth.

Red River College Polytechnic has eight campuses across Manitoba, including several located in rural communities. Our campuses include state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to ensure that our students are ready for the workforce after graduation.

Our aim is to steadily exceed the job market’s evolving requirements, which is why we employ committed staff and faculty who are dedicated to ensuring each student is armed with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to succeed in today’s multi-skilled workforce.

Red River College Polytechnic Innovation Centre Scholarships

Throughout the academic year, Red River College assists students by administering awards, bursaries and scholarships that have been donated by concerned corporations, community organizations and individuals. These awards cover the specific requests of the donors and are intended to assist students who have shown outstanding abilities in academic or vocational areas and/or are in need of financial assistance.

Definition of Terms

An Award usually involves multiple criteria such as academic achievement, demonstrated financial need, and school or community involvement.
A Bursary is usually given to a recipient based on demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic progress.
A Scholarship is given to a recipient primarily based upon academic achievement.
Entrance Awards may require an application and may be awarded to recipients prior to their starting a program.
General Awards are available to current RRC students through most academic programs based upon specific award criteria.

Red River College Polytechnic Innovation Centre Services & Facilities

In a college-approved work placement, students have the unique opportunity to use their abilities and engage in meaningful work outside of the classroom.

Students at RRC Polytech can participate in a variety of varsity sports, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and futsal. On-campus fitness classes, massage therapy, personal fitness tests, and much more are available at the College.

RRC Polytech's Athletics and Recreation Services department provides recreational opportunities for its students, staff, and alumni that improve their physical, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, and occupational well-being.

A full-service library with study facilities and open computer access is available at Red River College Polytechnic. Books, magazines, reports, and government documents are among the library’s collections, with many more in digital format.

Red River College Polytechnic Innovation Centre Accomodation

Red River College Polytechnic's student residence is located two blocks from the Roblin Centre, inside the Paterson Global Foods Institute in Winnipeg's historic Exchange District. The Residence offers fully equipped, modern, air-conditioned suites. There is also a shared kitchen, laundry rooms, and various common areas with Wi-Fi that may be used for study, entertainment, or socializing.

Recent advancements in computer hardware and machine learning algorithms have driven a rapid growth in the use of data science and machine learning across all economic sectors, with applications in robotics and automation, healthcare, finance, and government to name just a few. Because of this, there is now a huge demand for developers and data analysts with skills and experience in these fields.
In the Data Science and Machine Learning program, you will:

Study the fundamental concepts in mathematics and statistics that make these technologies possible.
Gain the skills to collect / organize data and use analytics to inform decisions.
Implement current machine learning algorithms to address common needs in industry.
Develop the skills to effectively communicate technical ideas with other developers as well as those without technical knowledge.

Prepare for an in-demand career as a full stack web developer. This program provides you with the skills and abilities to manage the development of front-facing (what the user sees) and back-end (server-side) web technologies.

After graduating from the program, use your skills to design and build web applications covering everything from analysis and design to development implementation and maintenance. Common duties of a full stack developer include discussing requirements with clients, proposing solutions, ensuring a pleasant end user experience, maintaining databases, performing quality assurance and application coding.

Diploma in Social Innovation and Community Development

Social Innovation brings a new perspective to existing ways of decision-making in today’s society. By reconceptualizing education, we’ve broadened the learning experience to focus on how you can make a positive impact on the world.

In your first year, through tools like empowerment, inclusiveness, community engagement, sustainable development, environmental stewardship, reconciliation, and social activism, you will discover the tremendous capacities of communities and individuals looking to initiate systems change. With a focus on self-reflection and embedded with Indigenous teaching, ceremony, and ways of knowing, you will learn about yourself, your potential, and your community.

During the second year of the program, you will choose a major that reflects your passions, skills, talents, and career aspirations:

• Community Development, which gathers the best practices of societies looking at improving the lives of their most disenfranchised members.
• Indigenous Social Entrepreneurship, which is a new way to approach launching ventures that will positively impact your community and the world.

Red River College Polytechnic Innovation Centre Admission Requirements

Admission to Red River College Polytechnic - Innovation Centre is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies.

Students should be at least 18 years old before taking admission.
Students should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams.
Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit translated copies of the same along with the originals.
