About University of Northern British Columbia Peace River Liard Campus

The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) was formed in 1990 with the goal of delivering top-notch education to students from all over the world. It is a public research university that is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, U Sports, and the University of the Arctic, Universities Canada, and the International Association of Universities. It is one of the country's best small institutions, focusing mostly on cultural studies, science, economic studies, and environmental studies.

The Peace River-Liard region of British Columbia is home to a wealth of natural resources such as oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture, as well as the energy of our citizens who want to live and work in a place that offers so much back. The regional campus headquarters of UNBC and the main regional service centre in the northeastern region are both located in Fort St. John. Wilderness and eco-adventures, hunting and fishing, as well as superb year-round sports facilities, all draw visitors to the region. Students can enrol in classes at Fort St. John, as well as a number of northeastern villages, Grande Prairie, Alberta, and Whitehorse, Yukon.

In the Peace River-Liard region, UNBC provides various undergraduate and graduate programs and university transfer courses in collaboration with Northern Lights College. UNBC provides diverse programs, with award-winning staff and the smallest class sizes of any research-intensive university in Western Canada. To help students learn more effectively, UNBC employs a variety of cutting-edge technologies and resources.

Students can use the Career Centre's services to help them prepare for employment. The Employment Centre hosts career fairs on campus twice a year, allowing students the opportunity to meet potential employers. An updated list of part-time and full-time jobs for students is also available at the centre.

Every aspect of life at UNBC is filled with a sense of belonging. With varsity sporting teams, over 30 kilometres of trails just outside the back door, and a varied student, staff, and faculty population, UNBC is a fantastic place to live and work.

University of Northern British Columbia Peace River Liard Campus Accomodation

Students here have access to on-campus accommodation options that provide highly clean, attractive, well-maintained, pleasant, and safe living spaces for them to call home. The college accommodation halls, which are only a minute's walk from the main campus, are home to students.  Each suite has private bedrooms with a bed and desk, a full kitchen, a large living area, and a shared bathroom. Wi-Fi, full laundry facilities on each floor and a large common room for events, socials, study halls, and games are all included in each building.

Admission to the University of Northern British Columbia - Peace River-Liard Campus is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies. 

 

  • Students should be at least 18 years old before taking admission.
  • Students should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit translated copies of the same along with the originals.
