University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Prince George Campus Services & Facilities

At UNBC, students are provided with all of the necessary campus amenities. The campus is known for its innovative architecture and is home to the Health Sciences building, the Research laboratory building, the Weller Library, and a residence hall. It houses the Wood Innovation and Design Centre, which Michael Green Architect, a well-known architecture firm, designed. It acts as a resource for wood-related education and research. The campus was awarded the Campus Sustainability Leadership Award for being a green and clean campus in the city.

The campus library offers a large collection of periodicals, research papers, books, and magazines, which helps students to immerse well in the learning environment. UNBC is easily accessible by public transportation and has numerous cafes and eateries near the campus. Students can also find medical stores, stationery stores, and basic stores within walking distance of the campus.

The UNBC offers housing options at its two residential buildings, both located within a 5-minute walk of the campus's center. It has a combined housing capacity of over 500 people and houses fully furnished apartment suites, including kitchens, living areas, private bedrooms with beds and tables, and communal bathrooms. WiFi, laundry facilities on each floor, social rooms, and study halls are all available in each building.

This program applies a combination of science and humanities to understand a range of anthropological approaches. Utilize your knowledge at the graduate level or in pursuit of a career in education, law, social work, and more.

Program Details
Study the most fascinating subject of all – ourselves. Anthropology is the biological, social and cultural investigation of humans, in the past, present, and future. 

This program includes courses in sociocultural, archaeological, biological, and linguistic anthropology. You can choose from a broad range of courses that reflect specific areas of interest. If your pursuit is sociocultural, you might select courses in First Nations studies, geography, history, and political science. If you are interested in archaeology, you might also take courses in biological and soil sciences, and environmental studies.

Economics is concerned with how societies provide for the well-being of their citizens and residents, along with public policies to promote well-being. Faculty members in the Department of Economics are excellent teachers and committed to providing students with an active learning and inclusive environment, and to developing knowledge of contemporary issues and practical thinking skills. Economics courses address a range of current issues, such as: what are the impacts of carbon taxes? How can health care be efficiently and equitably provided? Should water be privatized? First Nations Studies takes the points of view of First Nations people and communities as the starting point for description and analysis, and contextualizes issues from this perspective. Courses in First Nations Studies will re-orient students to question the underlying assumptions of everyday understanding and will develop clarity in thought and presentation critical to advanced study.

First Nations Studies is a valuable part of any good undergraduate education in the contemporary world; it is an appropriate undergraduate major for students aspiring to careers in education, business, public administration, law, communications, cultural property management, social services, health care delivery and administration, and many other fields. With an undergraduate major in First Nations Studies students may apply for admission to graduate programs in several academic disciplines, and to many professional programs. Students intending to apply for graduate or professional programs should ensure that their programs include all required prerequisites.

University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Prince George Campus Admission Requirements

University of Northern British Columbia - Prince George Campus has different eligibility requirements for different courses. However, some requirements remain the same for every student, like:

  • The student must be 18 years or above at the time of admission.
  • A student from a non-English speaking country must prove their language proficiency by attempting IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams.
  • The student needs to provide original transcripts from all the previously attended academic institutions (If the original transcripts are not in English,  translated copies of the same must be submitted with the original documents).
