Georgian College is a well-known and prestigious public college in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It was formed in 1967 and is one of the largest government-funded colleges for applied art and technology. Georgian College has over 13,000 full-time students on seven campuses (Barrie, Midland, Muskoka (Bracebridge), Orangeville, Orillia, Owen Sound, and South Georgian Bay (Collingwood), with 3,600 international students from 85 countries. 

Georgian College provides students with a diverse learning environment that includes a wide range of co-op learning options. Among the 130+ market-driven programs taught by the active faculty are: certificates, diplomas, degrees, graduate certificates, combined degree-diploma programs with Lakehead University, continuing education and workforce development options, academic upgrading and career preparation, apprenticeship and skills training

The award-winning Design and Visual Arts programs, which are supervised by teachers with substantial industry experience and contacts, help students launch their creative careers. Students learn in fully equipped studios with industry-standard technologies and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and real-world clients.

On-campus, there are a variety of clubs ranging from chess to dancing. Throughout the year, the Georgian College Students' Association sponsors a variety of activities.


The Barrie campus has on-campus housing options. Living on campus gives students everything they need to have a fun and safe college experience. Students can participate in residence life programs and form new lifelong friendships and get to know others better. Students who opt to live on campus will have numerous possibilities to participate in their college community.

There are numerous alternatives for off-campus accommodation. Places4Students, a company that specializes in offering off-campus housing choices to postsecondary students, has collaborated with Georgian College. Places4Students is a website that lists available rental houses as well as student profiles looking for housemates. Georgian students are not charged for this service.

Admission to Georgian College - Design and Digital Arts Centre (Downtown Barrie location) is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies. 

  • Student should be at least 18 years before taking admission
  • Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, TOEIC, CAEL or other equivalent exams
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit translated copies of the same along with the originals.
