About Mohawk College - Centre for Aviation Technology at Hamilton International Airport (YHM)

Mohawk College was founded in 1966 as part of a network for colleges that were making higher education more accessible to the average person. Mohawk was established in 1965 and the school has expanded over time with many new academic programs being added. Today it has four campuses that offer industry-linked, high-quality information to students all across the globe. The Hamilton Mountain Campus, the Stoney Creek Campus and the Mohawk-McMaster Institute for Applied Health Sciences are all located within an hour’s drive from downtown Toronto.

College offers more than 130 full-time programs, apprenticeship programs and around a thousand continuing education courses. Mohawk is the largest trainer of apprentices in Ontario and it ranks high in providing exceptional health science and engineering technology programs. 

In 2021, Mohawk opened a centre for aviation technology at the Hamilton International Airport. The centre consists of a 75,000 square foot classroom, hanger space and laboratory space.  For college’s aviation technician programs: aviation technician - aircraft structures, aviation technician - aircraft maintenance, aviation technician - avionics maintenance. 

Facilities and Services

Mohawk College is leading the way in experiential learning. Because of its huge focus on employability, Mohawk has developed partnerships with a variety of local, national and international organizations that offer students diverse opportunities to gain valuable job experience, skills development and/or career placements. It helps students by providing them with a range of services like transformative academic programs pioneering research, career counseling and academic advising, internships and on-the-job training, career information centre, co-op education program etc. 


On-campus housing is available for students at the Fennell campus with basic facilities like TV, cable connection, Wi-Fi, bedrooms etc. Apart from on-campus facilities, students can take advantage of several studio apartments, paying guest facilities, sharing apartment complexes etc. Besides, homestays are another great option for students. 


Mohawk College offers various scholarships, bursaries and awards to extraordinary students. In addition to internal scholarships, international students can apply for external scholarships provided by the Canadian government and various private institutions.

Admission to Mohawk College - Centre for Aviation Technology at Hamilton International Airport (YHM) is subject to certain requirements and the eligibility requirements vary as per the program a student applies to. However, there are certain requirements that every student must keep in mind before applying to the college:

  • Student should be at least 18 years old before taking admission
  • Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or other equivalent exams
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended.
