About Northern Lights College - Dawson Creek Campus

Northern Lights College, founded in 1975, is a post-secondary educational institution in Northern British Columbia. British Columbia Colleges is a set of 11 colleges spread across the province of British Columbia. Northern Lights College is one of them. Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, and Tumbler Ridge all have campuses, with access centres in Atlin, Dease Lake, and Hudson's Hope.

Dawson Creek Campus is home to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program, a trade and apprenticeship program.  Courses in the University Arts and Sciences lead to a University Arts and Sciences Certificate, an Associate of Arts Degree, or additional post-secondary education. NLC's programmes are designed to provide students with the essential classroom information, as well as appropriate practical or hands-on opportunities, in order to help them make the successful transition from student to employee.

Services and Facilities

Dawson Creek Campus offers Aboriginal Education services, Student Recruitment, on-site student accommodations, a library, gym, childcare facility, bookstore, financial aid, and city transit access. Students can participate in a range of extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, including camping, skiing, cricket, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and more.

Interactive career planning tools help students find their interests, abilities, and skills. The career centre provides materials to help students in exploring their opportunities, identify their goals, and build a path for future success.

Students can use the campus's library, computing equipment and group study rooms, as well as learning materials and learning resources. Other services include printing and faxing at low costs, assistance with citations, and project submission services.


The college provides well-equipped on-campus housing to its students, with a total of 89 student housing units and 9 family housing units. Students also have other options, such as living in a hostel. Every unit also comes with a kitchenette with basic cooking appliances.

A directory of off-campus housing and apartments is also available from the College. Students can come on time and look for an apartment.


Northern Lights College offers its students the opportunity to receive a variety of scholarships, awards, and bursaries in order to improve their financial situation while also receiving recognition for their great achievements.

Notable Alumni

Bob Zimmer (Canadian politician and a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada) is one of the famous alumni of Northern Lights College.

Admission to Northern Lights College - Dawson Creek Campus is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies. 

  • Student should be at least 18 years before taking admission
  • Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or other equivalent exams
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, then students need to submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
