North Island College Comox Valley Campus

North Island College (NIC), located on Vancouver Island, is a community college that first opened its doors in 1975 as a remote learning centre. It offers a range of bachelor's and associate's degrees, diplomas and certificate courses. 

The college’s main campus is in Comox Valley, with the other three campuses at Campbell River, Port Alberni, and Port Hardy. It is a comprehensive college that serves over 9,000 students annually through on-campus, learning centre, online, and in-community learning programs. 

North Island College offers a range of programs in health care, trades, business, fine arts, tourism, and university studies. Comox Valley Campus consists of six structures and small classrooms. Photography programs and science labs are taught in Raven Hall, while the library, staff offices, classrooms, and student services are in Discovery Hall. Shadbolt Studio has greater areas for art instruction and production. Puntledge Hall, which is joined to the Raven and Discovery Halls by a raised skyway, hosts Early Childhood Care, Nursing, and Co-operative Education classes.

North Island College offers a diverse selection of educational options, boasting over 1,000 courses and 80 programs spanning a wide range of disciplines including healthcare, trades, business, fine arts, tourism, and university studies. These programs provide the opportunity to earn degrees, diplomas, and certificates. If you have an interest in business, North Island College presents three Bachelor of Business Administration degrees with specializations in Marketing, Accounting, or General Management. Furthermore, the college has partnered with Vancouver Island University (VIU) to provide a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

In 1992, the Comox Valley campus on Ryan Road opened its doors. The campus has grown since then as demand for programming has increased. The Comox Valley campus is located on beautiful Vancouver Island on Canada's west coast. The campus has six buildings and houses a Shadbolt Studios, a modern Trades Training Centre and the Stan Hagen Theatre, located next to the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre and the Comox Valley Hospital.

Scholarships are given out to those who have excelled academically. Every year, the NIC Foundation provides hundreds of scholarships. Scholarships are also available from other sources such as unions, service groups, non-profit organizations, and employers.NIC Foundation's generous awards are made possible by those who believe in the value of education and want to ensure that finances don't stand between students and their career goals. 

All NIC Foundation awards, ranging in value and category, require only one application to be reviewed. Bursaries are provided based on financial need, whereas scholarships are offered for superior academic achievement.

Tyee Hall at the campus gives  students access to a bookstore, cafeteria, classrooms and computer labs, while at Puntledge Hall, they can find classrooms and offices for nursing education. 

Raven Hall houses classrooms and science labs for photography, and the discovery hall contains a library, student services, registration and domestic students lounge. The campus also has a Wi-Fi facility and designated parking for students or employees and is easily accessible by vehicle or transit.

There are homestay options in the Campbell River, Comox Valley, and Port Alberni regions. The homestay program allows students to immerse themselves in Canadian culture by living with a local family in a safe, homelike setting.
