About Northern College - Timmins Campus

Established in 1967, Northern College is situated in Timmins in Ontario. It offers full-time, part-time, certificate and diploma and apprenticeship programs along with web-based and correspondence courses. The college also makes available career entrance preparation and academic upgrading programs to help them take the direction they want to go in.

International students can opt for graduate and postgraduate programs in business and office administration, community services, engineering technology and trades, health sciences and emergency services, veterinary sciences and engineering technology.

Being one of the largest colleges for arts and technology, it covers an area of 16,000 square kilometers. Timmins city has the main campus, whereas Northern College has its presence in Kirkland Lake, Moosonee and Heileybury too. 

Services and Facilities

The college helps learners to attain the highest level of their potential with its planned academic, social and real-world experiences. The college offers a rich learning environment including a variety of experiential learning opportunities through co-operative programs. Continuous improvements and evaluation of quality are carried out to create a nurturing atmosphere.

Timmins is at the crossroads of urban and rural life. It has the amenities of a metropolitan city, while it also has the charm of the suburbs with its magnificent landscapes. Timmins has something for both fishing-loving and art-loving kinds of people. 

Timmins is the ideal of urban-rural interaction. On the one hand, it is large enough to give all of the amenities and services anticipated of a larger city, but small enough to ensure that students are never far from the spectacular scenery that northern Ontario is known for. If kids enjoy hunting, fishing, or camping, there will be plenty of areas for them to do so. Snowmobiling, ice fishing, and cross-country and downhill skiing are all popular winter activities for students. Students can attend a symphony, concert, or art show. Students can find all of these things in Timmins as well.

Accommodation 

At the Timmins Campus, the college provides residence-type setting for housing. They are private rooms that include bed, desk, chair, lamp, drawers and closet, & internet, telephone and TV connections, with a shared kitchen, private bathrooms, laundry, lounges and games room.

Scholarships

Northern College has one of the province's highest rates of scholarships, bursaries, and prizes per student. Domestic, international, Indigenous, full-time, part-time, first-year, upcoming grads, and everyone in between are all eligible for awards at the college. Northern College students have access to over 500 scholarships, bursaries, and awards each year. Every year, about 1,000 Northern College students are awarded scholarships, bursaries, and prizes. Thanks to the generosity of the contributors, Northern College students receive over $700,000 in scholarships, bursaries, and prizes each year.

Admissions

Admission to Northern College - Timmins Campus is subject to certain requirements and the eligibility requirements vary as per the program a student applies to.

  • The student should be 18 years of age before taking admission.
  • The student must have taken either TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or an equivalent English language proficiency exam.
  • The student is required to submit their original transcripts from all the academic institutions they have attended. (If the transcripts are not in English, translated copies must be submitted along with the original ones.)
