About Capilano University

Capilano University is a public university, established in 1968 that lays firm academic foundation for its students. Then founded by school boards and residents of North Vancouver, it is committed to continuously developing new and innovative programs to give a competitive edge to students and help them gain market-relevant skills.

The university offers an array of certificate, diploma, bachelor’s, associate degree, advanced diploma and post-baccalaureate programs in business and management studies, health and human services, creative and applied arts and science courses like early childhood education, film, business administration, kinesiology, interdisciplinary studies, design and many more. The university also offers pathway programs to help students meet their career and educational aspirations.

Capilano University is internationally acclaimed for its quality programs and education, and student services. Its main campus is in North Vancouver. Some other campuses are located on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Lil’wat and Sechelt (shíshálh), Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh Nations. The university supports and challenges students by offering personalized learning and individual attention. 95% of Capilano graduates have been recorded to secure a job within six months of completing graduation.

Services and Facilities

Services at Capilano are categorized in three ways - Support and Wellness services include safety and security, health and counselling, sexual violence support and prevention and sunshine coast student services. Under campus community services, students can access athletics and recreation activities, bookstore, performing arts centres. The university has its soccer, basketball, and volleyball varsity teams, but students can work out with the university community between classes or participate in the many active programs or clubs. Students have academic support with the university’s academic support services, library, learning resources and career development centre.

Classes are small and include a combination of lectures, engaging conversations, and hands-on learning. Students will solve challenging issues collaboratively with their peers to find useful, practical answers.

Accommodation

Capilano residence is situated at a short distance from the North Vancouver campus. It is a convenient and affordable housing option that gives students a safe space for learning and building deep, lasting friendships with people on campus.

The rooms come with high-speed, wireless internet. Each floor in housing has a common lounge area, shared washroom and showers. The residence facility also includes a daily meal plan providing a range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options in the dining hall with $500 in dining dollars for students to use for meals on campus.

Scholarships

Capilano University offers a number of scholarships, bursaries and awards to help students in meeting their finances.

Admissions

Admission to Capilano University is subject to certain requirements and the eligibility requirements vary as per the program a student applies to.

  • The student should be 18 years of age.
  • The student must have taken either TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or an equivalent English language proficiency exam.
  • The applicant is required to submit their original transcripts (translated, if not in English) from all the academic institutions they have attended.
