Course structure
You’ll study a balance of history and media modules in your first year, helping you develop a strong skillset and knowledge of methodologies in each discipline. Things like source analysis and media interpretation.

In your second year, you’ll bring your skillset together by completing your first interdisciplinary module. You’ll also begin driving your studies in the direction you want through a wide range of module options.

Your third year culminates in the completion of your dissertation, which explores and celebrates the interconnections between history and media. Employability is embedded throughout your course.

Promoting and marketing sport is a growing industry. You’ll develop as a dynamic sport marketer to prepare for an exciting career in this vibrant field.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Gain insight into specific aspects of sport marketing in a changing global environment
• Discover how sport marketing contributes to the success of sports performers, teams, organisations, events and related industries
• Learn how to connect and interact with various audiences through broadcasting, branding, print and digital campaigns
• Analyse consumer behaviour

Combining modules that explore architectural design, this course will help you gain an in-depth knowledge and skillset across design, arts, media and humanities.

As part of your course you'll:

• Focus on four interdisciplinary strands: ARCHITECTURAL AGENCY & PRACTICE; DIGITAL ARCHITECTURES; ARCHITECTURE & MEDIA; ARCHITECTURE & URBANISM
• Produce a focused research project in writing
• Develop expertise in appropriate design research methodologies
• Build skills, knowledge and critical judgement for the advanced study of architecture

MA Architecture Futures aims to provide an education that stimulates academic achievement, personal initiative, and acquisition of inter and trans-disciplinary knowledge and skills.

Nutrition plays a key part in the promotion of good health and the primary prevention of diet-related illness in communities and populations.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Become a critically reflective practitioner and gain practical experience in our health science and catering laboratories
• Gain an understanding of the relationship between food, nutrition and health
• Manage, analyse, interpret and communicate information and statistics about nutrition related health and disease states
• Undertake work-based placements to apply your expertise and refine your practical skills
• Have the option of undertaking a sandwich placement in year three

 You’ll undertake an extended placement in an area such as the food industry, for producers of specialist nutrition products, health promotion or research. You’ll also develop group skills by delivering your own nutrition awareness event. Throughout the course, you’ll learn skills which are appealing and desirable to employers.

If you have little or no experience of psychology, this course will give you the essential knowledge, skills and experience needed for a first step towards a career in this exciting field.

You will gain a comprehensive and critical understanding of cognitive, social, developmental and biological psychology, individual differences and conceptual and historical issues in psychology. In preparation for completing your dissertation, you will also develop the research skills necessary for designing and conducting quality research beyond that expected of graduates.

This course is relevant to graduates who have not studied psychology before, who have completed an undergraduate degree with a psychology component or who have undertaken an undergraduate psychology course not accredited by the BPS.

Learn to produce content for all platforms including TV, radio and the web.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Develop your understanding of new technological developments and approaches in the creation of broadcast video and audio content
• Become an expert producer with the confidence to work across all platforms
• Develop TV and radio ideas and formats
• Take on production roles and work in teams on live broadcasts
• Produce podcasts, and shoot and edit video
• Create and work with motion graphics materials
• Exhibit your final projects to the general public and industry professionals at our Creative Technology Showcase 

You’ll learn to anticipate and respond to current local and global changes in broadcasting needs. As you develop production content in a broadcasting and radio studio, you’ll also have access to facilities for live edits of your material. We’ll give you the skills to use graphics and visual construction to communicate material for branding and audiences.

Opportunities will arise to work in our in-house media training facility on collaborative projects.

Develop a dynamic combination of practical business knowledge and legal expertise and open doors to a range of career opportunities.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Examine core business principles including finance, communications, entrepreneurship and human resource management
• Cover legal aspects such as copyright, commercial law, company law, intellectual property rights and media and entertainment law
• Learn from a teaching team made up of experienced business and legal professionals who have professional relationships with key employers in Leeds such as Eversheds, DAC Beachcroft and Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC

Our guest lecture programme will give you the chance to enhance your knowledge and inspire your learning. High-profile speakers have included ministers, judges and the CEO of the London Stock Exchange.

You’ll be encouraged to undertake a work placement, and with our strong links to industry you'll be able to gain access to a number of major employers within Leeds, the region's centre for legal and financial services.

Leeds Law School has a dedicated building at the heart of our City Campus, with its own bespoke courtroom, giving you the opportunity to witness mock trials and mooting competitions.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Learn to apply an enquiring, systematic, problem solving and self-evaluative approach to your work as a dietitian
• Be committed to using research, clinical guidelines and policy in the evaluation and improvement of evidence-based dietetic practice  
• Develop further the research acumen, professional skills and abilities, values and behaviours of a registered dietitian
• Enhance appreciation of the complex framework of accountability, ethical and legal boundaries to meet Employer Frameworks and Professional Regulatory and Statutory Body Standards
• Critically appraise areas of dietetic practice
• Contribute to bodies of research and evidence-based practice through an independent, original high-quality piece of master’s-level research

Develop the specialist skills and knowledge to enter the games, digital and creative entertainment industries.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Focus on three main areas: programming and software engineering; art, concept and asset production; and game design studies, practice and theory
• Take products from an initial idea through the design, visualisation and technical implementation stages
• Be encouraged to foster your individual creativity
• Produce games based on your ideas
• Work with other students and tutors who have a passion for games and gaming

 Placement opportunities, networking events and guest lectures from industry experts such as Disney animator Aaron Blaise and codemasters Team17 Digital and Dan Gray from UsTwoGames will enhance your awareness of the career opportunities open to you.

We are also members of industry network, Game Republic, where past students have won awards from industry judges in the Student Showcase Competition.

Final year students also have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of leading employers at the end of year degree show. You can see some of their work in the Leeds School of Arts Festival. Previous years have seen many of our students gain job offers through the showcase opportunities.
