Whether you are a recent theatre or performance graduate, a professional arts worker, an emerging artist, or work in education, your course will see you learn among a diverse range of performance communities.

We will give you the skills to expand and reframe your current practices within a supportive community that values practice-led research, and we will also give you the platform to perform your work at national and international festivals.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Find new ways to produce innovative choreography
• Choose optional modules to create an individual programme of study
• Explore your artistic interests and make several new pieces of choreography
• Engage with the latest research and insights, and learn how to apply this to real-world situations
• Develop the skills to respond to a brief, curate work for festivals and events, and collaborate on and initiate interdisciplinary and experimental projects
• Explore traditional and alternative settings for dance and performance, from the studio and theatre to galleries and museums
• Have the opportunity to work with community groups using participatory, immersive and specialised collaborative approaches to develop new choreographic methods
• Share ideas and experiences with fellow students to collaborate, critique and engage with each other's choreographic identities

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Explore a wide range of theories within psychology, mental health, counselling, child development and psychotherapy
• Combine theoretical knowledge with opportunities to work in mental health environments and develop your ability to build effective therapeutic relationships
• Study a variety of therapeutic approaches  
• Explore psychotherapeutic models including cognitive and behavioural development and look at theories on how mental health issues develop across the lifespan
• Learn how to develop your interpersonal skills in order to build counselling relationships between you and your clients 

This course is suitable for those working in mental health services wanting to further their knowledge and career, or for those wishing to enter the health and care professions. You’ll study a variety of therapeutic approaches and will be able to tailor the course to your career ambitions. On completion, you’ll be able to build positive therapeutic relationships that can foster positive change for your clients, for example with people experiencing anxiety, depression and addiction.

You’ll practise your counselling and interpersonal skills using our interview and feedback rooms. Engaging with work-based learning opportunities will allow you to reflect upon how you use your practical skills in the real world. These activities will help you become a confident, globally minded and emotionally mature individual, enhancing your career prospects.

Develop your critical analytical and interpretive skills and forge a deeper sociological understanding of the world around you.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Learn to understand the complex social conditions that drive people to commit crime and how that expert knowledge can enhance your study of criminology
• Critically analyse and challenge responses to crime in order to help shape a better society
• Study a variety of topics such as modern theories of sociology and criminology, exploring issues such as youth crime, social exclusion and how the media shapes our perceptions of crime
• Choose your own area of investigation when researching and writing your dissertation

You’ll engage with sociology and criminology equally. Through a blend of workshops, collaborative projects and observational field trips, you’ll be encouraged to drive your studies in the direction of your choosing.

Sociological projects can include creating wikis or presenting your work at a student conference. You could even see your critical essay published in our school's highly regarded sociology journal.

Examine our relationship with the natural environment and learn to understand and consider responses to the challenges of climate change, globalisation, urbanisation, development and regeneration.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Explore a range of contemporary issues within geography and environmental science such as remote sensing, natural hazard management, energy and environmental governance, climate adaptation, GIS and specialist technical field work
• Develop your understanding of the relationships between human activity and environmental change and combine theories about the physical nature, characteristics and environment of the world with human interactions

Field trips, which include visits to sites of geographical and environmental importance, will help you gain an understanding of real-world issues and develop competence in practical research skills.

Gain a deep understanding of relational theory and practice and learn how to apply your therapeutic counselling and psychotherapy skills with clients.

Accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), this course will enable you to develop the skills you’ll need as a professional counsellor or psychotherapist. It will provide you with the training required to become registered with the BACP and be professionally recognised as a counsellor.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Identify your strengths and areas for development through clinical practice, ensuring you become a capable and self-reflective practitioner
• Experience a variety of learning approaches from full class lectures, to small group skills development where you can record your practice in our communications suite

As climate change and a range of ethical considerations forces us to address the true cost of new buildings, you'll practise sustainable interior design through creative re-use of existing structures.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Use traditional art and design inspiration and processes, along with digital media, to sculpt, draw and model innovative interior architecture

• Become an imaginative, ethical designer at the forefront of interior architecture and design practice and be supported in your individual aspirations and creativity
• Showcase your design talents to the public and impress industry professionals by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year

You’ll be taught by experienced practitioners whose backgrounds are in top architecture and design industry consultancies and practices. Live projects will give you the opportunity to engage with real clients, user groups, experts, practising designers and architects.

In your first year, you will study the legal frameworks, policies and theories - in particular psychosocial perspectives - that underpin social work. A practice placement will offer you the chance to hone your communication skills as you start to apply your knowledge in the field.

In your second year, you will continue to extend and refine your understanding of the law. You'll also undertake a second practice placement and complete a dissertation. This course remains approved by Social Work England. This means that people qualifying from this course can apply to become a registered social worker.

If you are a sound designer or composer, this course gives you the opportunity to explore the issues and opportunities that interactivity presents.
