Tourism Management

Course learning for the Bachelor of Nursing is progressively scaffolded over the three years and during this time students are immersed in a range of innovative learning experiences from which their cognitive, emotional and clinical capabilities actively grow, and their capacity to engage, think critically and reflect are refined to inform their nursing interventions.

Theoretical learning is coupled with supervised clinical placements which provide invaluable real-world learning opportunities for students. Sourced to meet the learning outcomes of our program, we offer a range of primary, secondary and tertiary placements in local, regional and remote facilities where students can explore diverse career options.

The Bachelor of Arts focuses on human cultures, values and beliefs that will broaden your mind with challenging ideas. This course fosters transferable skills that are highly valued across all sectors – qualities such as communication, analysis, critical thinking and problem solving.

The Bachelor of Arts is a very flexible degree – you can tailor your studies through the choice of a major in History, Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, Digital Media or Politics and International relations or choose a shared major from a wide range of disciplines across the University.

Complete the academic prerequisites to become a lawyer in just three years with the Bachelor of Laws, developing the intellectual, critical, and practical skills needed in the professional practice of law.

In addition to the core units, which comply with professional accreditation requirements, the course includes unique core units such as the philosophy of law and environmental law, that reflect our focus on justice and critique.

Elective units cover areas as diverse as human rights, race and the law, animal law, climate law and policy, psychology and the law and ecological jurisprudence. An elective in mediation meets national requirements, setting you on the way to becoming a nationally accredited mediator.

You may also complete electives via rewarding and academically rigorous Summer or Winter School intensives and undertake work placements and law mooting as part of your studies.

Our two-year (or 18 months if fast tracked*) Master of Teaching program qualifies you to be a teacher in Australia, and many countries overseas. Teaching is a career in which you can make a positive and life-long impact on the lives of children and young people.
You can choose to specialise in early childhood education, primary education, or secondary education.  

As well as undertaking an education research project, this course includes professional experience learning via placement in early childhood education settings, schools, and/or community sites. Pre-requisites to meet national and state-based regulatory requirements, as detailed in Faculty of Education Professional Experience Requirements, must be met prior to attending professional experience placement. All professional experience learning days must be completed, and professional behaviour and conduct must be demonstrated.

All primary and secondary students across Australia need to successfully complete the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) prior to undertaking the second professional experience placement.

Early Childhood

The Early Childhood specialisation qualifies you to become an early childhood teacher (six-weeks to five-years-old).

Whether it’s biometric recognition, digital health monitoring or connectivity to the Internet of Things, technology is shaping how we live at an unprecedented and increasing speed.

If you want to be part of this transformation, the Master of Information Technology (MIT) places you at the cutting edge. You'll experience innovative learning with industry-led projects at the University’s Digital Enterprise Lab, which might include digital health, digital tourism and smart cities. You will master cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality and the Internet of Things with advanced coursework and real-world applications.

The course is designed for both IT and non-IT professionals. Together with core units in data science, cyber security, software development and user experience, you have the option to tailor your studies with advanced specialist units.

As a graduate you are well-prepared for senior and leadership roles in all manner of businesses and organisations, from both the private and public sector.

The Bachelor of Education qualifies you to be a teacher in Australia, and many countries overseas. Our evidence-based course draws on the Faculty of Education’s leadership and research in teacher education that is responsive to local and global contexts.
 
Graduates will be qualified as a teacher in one of the following five areas:

• Early Childhood/Primary (6 weeks to Year 6);
• Primary (Kindergarten/Prep to Year 6); English Primary Specialisation and specialisation in Science and Maths available
• Primary/Secondary (English Primary Specialisation and one Secondary specialisation);
• Secondary (Two teaching specialisations); or
• Secondary: Design and Technology (choose from Industrial Technology, or Food and Fibre, plus one Secondary specialisation).

The first year of the course provides a distinctive foundation with excellent grounding in literacy, numeracy, and subject content, as well as issues in contemporary education.
 
Within the four-year full-time equivalent degree (or 3.5 years fast tracked*), you also undertake core learning in Indigenous education, sustainability, inclusive (special) education, along with curriculum and pedagogy learning across disciplines.

Secondary

 In this specialisation, you choose two teaching subjects from the full range of secondary subjects.

The business world is constantly evolving, with issues such as changing technology and increasing competition as factors in this process.

As a business owner or professional, you need to understand the core business principles that help you succeed and stay ahead in today’s fast-paced world.

This one-year program includes study in financial analysis and budget control, marketing concepts, consumer behaviour, market systems and their limitations. It also examines the impact of government policy on the business environment.

The one-year Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours adds to the skills and knowledge acquired during the Bachelor degree, and moves students closer to a career as a registered psychologist.

You will explore pre-professional skills in psychology, such as interview and counselling skills, culturally responsive and ethical practice in psychology, basic assessment strategies in psychology and psychometric theory, and how to appraise evidence-based psychology interventions across different settings.

With the guidance and support of our academics, you will conduct a research project in psychology and grow your understanding of research methodologies and data analysis.

Psychology honours completed after a three-year accredited sequence of study in psychology is the minimum qualification required to apply for the fifth year of accredited study. This is part of the 5+1 pathway for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. It is also required training to apply for Clinical Masters programs and can qualify graduates for entry into postgraduate research programs such as a PhD.
