The Department of Biological Sciences is home to 22 active research faculty and approximately 50 graduate students. Our faculty are currently funded by EPA, NIH, NSF, USDA, a variety of state and local agencies, and private foundations. Many faculty members have leadership roles in local, state, national and international organizations, including the American Physiological Society, American Society for Testing of Materials, International Standards Organization, the Nature Conservancy, the Ohio Plant Biotechnology Consortium and the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. They also served on EPA, NIH, and NSF study sections and review panels and are otherwise recognized as experts in their field.

The B.S. Degree Program in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration is designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and experience required for graduate study and to prepare students for professional careers in a variety of fields including energy resources, water resources, environmental protection, and environmental site investigation and remediation.

Continue your education with a Master of Science in Computer Engineering degree. This program covers hardware and the integration of hardware and software. You can explore the subject by choosing our thesis or non-thesis options.

We have a mixture of courses available during the day, evening, or online, making it easier for working professionals to pursue this degree. When you graduate, you will be able to use current computer engineering techniques to solve a broad range of problems.

Our graduate Electrical Engineering program is highly respected within the industry, and we have placed hundreds of graduates with major international corporations and research institutions. Students have the opportunity to conduct research in many areas, including robotics, VLSI circuit design, power electronics, microwave theory, control theory, sensor data fusion, and digital signal and image processing.

Businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies require people skilled in supply chain management to coordinate the flow of materials, finances, and information within and between companies. Supply chain management specialists improve service for customers while reducing costs for employers and you will study the strategies that make business, nonprofits, and governments competitive within a global economy.

Supply chain management graduates have a high chance of placement in an internship or job immediately after graduation and the skills learned as part of your degree will make you competitive for increasingly important positions. If you are curious, passionate about innovation, and like solving problems, a degree in supply chain management will prepare you to excel in a wide variety of career paths and industries.

Program Outcomes
If you complete this program, you will graduate with a Bachelor in Business with a major in supply chain management. In this program, you will get a broad education in core business skills such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, and operations management along with emphasizing effective management of production and service operations. You will study concepts and strategies that help businesses and organization stay competitive in the world economy, including management tools and analytic techniques, such as forecasting, purchasing, and logistics, inventory management, production scheduling, and quality manufacturing practices.

Our program covers three primary areas: basic problem solving and data analysis tools, major concepts and strategies for managing people, materials, and production resources, and the integration of the supply function into overall business or organizational strategy. This program will prepare you to work in supply chain management jobs and careers or to continue your education with a graduate or doctoral degree.

Help design your own degree program—one broad in scope, narrow in concentration, and flexible enough to draw courses from all of the departments and programs in the College of Liberal Arts. The liberal studies degree is ideal if your interests encompass more than one liberal arts field and you desire greater flexibility in your program. If you want to change your major but still graduate in a timely manner, or if you are a transfer student who might benefit from an interdisciplinary curriculum, consider liberal studies.

Advanced Studies is a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program that is available for currently licensed teachers who want in-depth study in a particular area of interest. This program offers a flexible option for highly motivated individuals who are seeking advanced study with specific professional objectives, such as expanding knowledge or skills in a specified area, and/or who are seeking to earn an endorsement, along with the Master’s degree.

Program Outcomes

Students completing the program will be able to:

• Communicate a sophisticated knowledge of history and disseminate it to the general public through completion of thesis projects, Public History capstone projects, Public History conferences, and other presentations and exhibits.
• Encourage others to explore and understand the historical context of their lives through public contact in societies, historical organizations, community and social groups, local and regional schools, History Day, and in museums and archives.
• Develop their own appreciation and knowledge of history through contact and networking with other historians (through the department, alumni, and professional organizations), and through a continued quest for knowledge by readings and primary research. 
• Be prepared to matriculate into Ph.D. programs or to advance their careers in secondary education. Graduates in the Public History plan will be qualified to obtain employment in historical organizations, corporations, government, non-profits, archives, libraries, or museums.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in music is designed for students who want to study music but do not necessarily plan a professional career in music. Students will get a much broader, more general education than students seeking a Bachelor of Music degree. Required courses are kept to a minimum. Consequently, students must work closely with an advisor in selecting course electives. For graduation, students must complete level III in the applied music concentration.

You can harness the power of music and its ability to express and communicate while studying music at Wright State. You will develop knowledge, technical skill, and the use of technology in our multifaceted curriculum. After graduation, pursue a career as a performer, composer, arranger, teacher, cultural administrator, or community leader. Graduates of Wright State’s music programs have proven successful in all of these fields.

Program Learning Outcomes:

• Learn to develop a degree of musicianship that will enable him or her to function as a performer.
• Develop an understanding of the principles and processes of music as it occurs within a variety of cultural and historical settings.
• Demonstrate a broad, general education in music rather than one of intensive musical study leading to a professional degree.
• Achieve proficiency in a foreign language and expand their appreciation of global perspectives in music.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving through a more diverse selection of liberal arts course offerings.
• Cultivate an understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods

The thesis option is for students who need or desire the full range of professional experience, including intensive research and writing. This option assures training in research techniques and in the preparation of scholarly papers. It culminates in the preparation and defense of a thesis based on original research. The student's program of study is an initiation into methods of focused study and research in a selected area of physiology or neuroscience.

The course option allows the student to plan a program of study that, along with the degree requirements, satisfies his or her educational needs and career objectives. This might be to extend knowledge for a current position, or as preparation for one of many health professions. The student's program of study typically culminates with two scientific writing courses broadly in the areas of Physiology and/or Neuroscience.

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is Wright State University's standard college mathematics program. Select this program if you wish to study mathematics per se, rather than statistics, computing, or applications of mathematics.It may also be the program you choose if you intend to pursue mathematics (or closely related disciplines) at the graduate level. If you wish to prepare for entry into the job market, you can do so in this program by wisely choosing among the many available electives.

Modern mathematics has several major branches. The three most commonly studied by undergraduate mathematics majors are algebra, geometry and topology, and analysis. Well-prepared freshmen will have sampled parts of the first two of these in high school algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. In college, mathematics majors encounter the beginning topic in the third branch—analysis—in their calculus classes.
