As part of this course you’ll:

• Gain the skills to work with children and young people who are experiencing mental health related issues
• Develop a critical and in-depth understanding of mental health and its relationship to children, young people and families within a changing and fluid society
• Explore medical and psychological models of practice and look at child and adolescent mental health from the position of social intervention
• Learn to draw on key interventions such as social pedagogy, relationship-based practice, playwork and community work as methodologies
• Use the social model of mental health and children and family practice to contribute to and co-produce knowledge in a collaborative, practical and participatory learning environment

Project management is an important facet of organisations across all sectors and industries. Accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM), this course will teach you how to work effectively with others and cultivate the range of technical skills required to be able to deliver projects effectively.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Manage the people, time and financial resources that are required to deliver successful projects
• Enhance your knowledge of the principles, roles and techniques of project management
• Learn how to use contemporary digital technologies, including project management software
• Develop the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels

Feedback and progress assessment, extra-curricular seminars, field trips and the involvement of industry experts as guest speakers will enrich your learning experience and your knowledge of current issues in the project management context.

This is the only course in the UK to offer a combination of transpersonal, psychoanalytic and critical approaches to psychology. You will explore ways of understanding the self as an open, evolving project that develops through interaction. This reflects developments at the leading edge of psychology, drawing upon insights from the history of human exploration of the self.

On this largely theoretical course, you will explore the relationship between psychology and cultural studies, philosophy, theology and social science. You will develop your understanding of different research methods and explore the use of language and the construction of meaning in real-world situations.

Whether you are working as a counsellor, a social worker, a psychologist or in another related profession, you will gain a unique perspective on mind, self and society. This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation on behalf of the Engineering Council as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

The course team will help you secure work placements during the summer and your sandwich year, if you choose to take one. A placement or sandwich year will provide you with a great opportunity to gain practical experience in the workplace, which will help you apply for jobs when you graduate.

Engage with human rights practice by linking the legal, theoretical and technical skills and knowledge needed to work for international organisations fighting injustice, oppression and persecution.You will study contemporary debates in human rights promotion and protection, researching the stories of violations, asylum, surveillance, peacekeeping and torture that are behind many of today's news headlines.

Working with your tutors and alongside industry professionals, you will develop the skills to be able to investigate claims of human rights abuses, gather evidence and build cases for legal proceedings.Your course will also hone your research and project management skills and develop your ability to write compelling funding applications and formulate budgets - essential requirements for a career in this area.

Created in collaboration with tutors from the University's Leeds Law School, your course will provide you with the expertise and practical skills to help protect human rights and tackle abuses.
