This degree involves a practical workshop programme, establishing and refining your understanding of the tactile qualities and properties of materials and how they can be manipulated to express your ideas. In the First Year you’ll learn contemporary approaches to designing and making across a range of 2D and 3D media. Paramedics are autonomous practitioners, who are often the first point of contact for a patient requiring emergency or urgent healthcare. They work in a variety of settings and deliver patient care in situations that can be complex and highly pressured. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to manage patients with illness or injury, including assessment and diagnostic skills through to treatment or referral to other healthcare professionals. The course has strong emphasis on high-quality care, taking into account rapid changes within the profession. A sound understanding of evidence-based practice and research is a fundamental part of your education. Your studies will be interspersed with practice placements, facilitated by local ambulance services.

You will also carry out a project which is a substantial piece of investigative work, normally carried out in an external organisation.  Host organisations for MSc projects have included large commercial concerns in both manufacturing and service sectors, a range of consultancies, charities, and in local government and government departments.

Projects are sometimes conducted abroad; past locations include Germany, Greece, Turkey, Malaysia, Kenya, Indonesia, China, India and Taiwan.

Staff who teach on the course include permanent academic staff who have industrial experience and who undertake regular consultancy work, and external psychologists from consultancies, large organisations and other universities.  Teaching and learning methods include lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials and practical sessions.  There is an emphasis on putting theory into practice.

Pharmacists are experts in medicines and a trusted source of advice and treatment. The role of pharmacists is developing in exciting new ways to support patients through medicine management and non-medical prescribing, as well as drug development.
