The growth and demand for highly trained, competent professionals in the dynamic field of finance is greater now than ever before. Our STEM-designated, Master of Finance program teaches how to apply quantitative methods to the complex discipline of finance with an emphasis on building job-ready skills.

This program is rigorous and practical featuring a comprehensive study of real-world corporate and investment risk measurement and management. You’ll become proficient in the theoretical principles, processes and practices of modern finance, and learn to apply them in real-world scenarios.

You’ll gain the ability to gather, assess and communicate financial data to guide business and investment decisions, and graduate prepared to sit for industry exams.

Chemists study the atomic and molecular structure of physical matter and analyze how it changes. More specifically, they investigate how basic atomic and molecular components are combined and can be manipulated to produce useful or improved products. They also develop methods to measure atomic and molecular properties and their interactions, enabling insight into a range of processes from mining to clinical diagnostics. Chemistry majors develop a solid foundation in general chemistry and mathematics followed by course work in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. The curriculum is rounded out by courses in the liberal and communications arts.

Chemistry majors are encouraged to participate in undergraduate research. Ample opportunities exist for undergraduate students to become involved in ground-breaking research in the laboratories of individual faculty members. Students have access to state-of-the-art equipment in faculty laboratories and the Central Instrument Facility including NMR, FTIR, UV/Vis, fluorescence, and mass spectrometers, vacuum lines, x-ray diffractometers and many more. Undergraduate research is strongly encouraged for any student considering a career in chemistry and many students complete supervised research for academic credit.

Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) is an interdisciplinary major focusing on the health and development of individuals across the lifespan, within the context of diverse families and social identities. Students complete foundational coursework in human development (i.e., infancy and childhood, adolescence, emerging and young adulthood, middle and later adulthood/aging), family studies, and evidence-based prevention and intervention programming in human services. Students study theory and emerging research in the field and learn to identify risk and protective factors influencing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development across the lifespan. During their final year, HDFS students apply knowledge and skills from foundational course work through participation in a semester-long internship. Internship is a hallmark of the degree program that serves as a culminating experience preparing students for a professional career with diverse populations, communities, and organizations. The HDFS major offers five concentrations that enable students to specialize within their degree and prepare for a variety of career paths in human services. In addition to selecting one of five concentrations, students have the opportunity to earn the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Minor, work toward Director Qualifications in early childhood settings, or apply to the Major in Early Childhood Education.  The HDFS department is committed to promoting the success and well-being of students from heterogeneous backgrounds and experiences.

The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.

You love knowing where your food comes from. You like to understand the science and business behind raising animals. This major focuses on the study of food-producing animals with foundation courses in the sciences. You’ll choose from specialized courses to enhance your technical, practical, and business skills, and have opportunities to participate in hands-on research and experience in the field with industry professionals and animals.

The School of Biomedical Engineering is a transdisciplinary program that incorporates training in engineering, veterinary and human medicine, and the sciences.  As a student you will be able to interact with the industry to work on real-world problems.

It’s no secret that knowing other languages opens doors to a world of opportunities. This major offers undergraduate instruction in 10 languages, concentrations in French, German and Spanish, and opportunities for education abroad. You’ll gain the ability to communicate in another tongue, but also to analyze literary texts and films, to understand the workings of language, to appreciate diversity and to interact successfully across cultures.

The Hospitality Management major combines courses in foodservice, lodging, event planning, nutrition, and business to provide students with a strong skill set for entry into hospitality management professions. Elective credits allow students to take courses in areas of interest to enhance their education. The curriculum has a strong emphasis on management skills required for success in the hospitality industry.

The Hospitality Management program maintains strong ties with the foodservice, lodging, and event planning industries locally, state-wide, and nationally to connect graduates with a wide variety of employment opportunities in the expanding commercial and non-commercial segments of hospitality management. The hospitality industry is the second largest employer in Colorado and the United States. The department oversees internships in the industry and aids in job placement upon graduation.

The Department of English is home to poets and linguists, literacy researchers and teacher educators, novelists and literary scholars, composition specialists and writers of creative nonfiction.

The MA in English with a specialization in Writing, Rhetoric, and Social Change allows you to pursue the study of writing and writing instruction, including the theory and practice of writing and writing instruction; the roles writing plays in public and private contexts; the composing processes used by writers in varying contexts and for particular purposes; the social, cultural, and historical forces shaping writing and writing instruction; and the impact of technology on writing and writing instruction.
