Psychology is the science of behavior. Students majoring in psychology learn how human behavior depends on biological factors, developmental status, cognitive processes, and social conditions. Psychological science encompasses a wide range of methods to address diverse topics, from brain function to cultural influences. International Year One General will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor's degree program at Saint Louis University. Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your second year of undergraduate study at Saint Louis University. English
Writing is central to all aspects of Saint Louis University's program in English. In all English courses, students hone their ability to write and to reflect upon what they read. 

Along with courses in literature in which critical and analytical writing plays a principal role, students majoring in English at SLU may take courses in various genres of creative writing or business and professional writing. These courses enhance both personal creativity and professional competence. SLU's English alumni consistently cite this departmental emphasis on analytical thinking and effective writing skills as a major asset in preparing them for a variety of academic and nonacademic postgraduate pursuits.

Saint Louis University’s M.A. program in American studies gives students a solid grounding in the origins, development, practices and theoretical framework of the field, as well as aiding them in the pursuit of independent research and academic writing.
Saint Louis University's award-winning American studies faculty are trained specifically in the discipline. Most have earned their Ph.D.s in American studies; all have worked extensively in the field as scholars and teachers. Our time and effort as teaching faculty are focused on American studies students. At the same time, we enjoy productive and cordial relations with our colleagues in other departments who teach and conduct research in related fields, and students may take carefully selected courses in those departments, as students in other departments do in American studies.

Saint Louis University's Department of Theological Studies trains students in a variety of sources and methods to help them evaluate and appreciate the most vital aspects of religious experience and thought. The department enters into this investigation from an academic perspective with the aim of helping students clarify their own understanding.
The Catholic tradition is central to the work of the department, but Catholicism is studied in the context of the whole Christian tradition and in relationship to all of the world’s religious traditions.

Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of humans. The anthropological endeavor involves both the sociocultural and biological aspects of humankind. The study of anthropology requires a holistic approach; it is comprehensive, inclusive and integrates information from many different areas of study through ethnographic, biological, cross-cultural, archaeological and sociological inquiries.

At Saint Louis University’s Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology, we have developed a unique, hands-on computer engineering program that incorporates analysis, design and development of computer systems containing hardware and software components.

The sports industry generates hundreds of billions of dollars each year. Major sports teams, universities, and recreational leagues employ women and men educated in sports business to conduct daily business operations.

Saint Louis University's Master of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies provides an interdisciplinary education about contemporary social justice issues, preparing students for leadership and advocacy roles in community or academic settings.

While gender is the primary focus, each course and the discipline as a whole examine gender in light of race, ethnicity, class, sexual identity, ability, age and religion. The discipline teaches students to think critically and to engage in the world as responsible citizens.
