Develop your research skills and contribute to new developments in allied and complementary health therapies.

Under expert supervision, you will develop your skills and join researchers already active in traditional and complementary medicine. Emphasis will be on research into evidence-based healthcare and clarifying how these therapies may work.

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences conducts research in the area of ageing and chronic disease, including:

• Metabolic diseases: obesity, type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease
• Respiratory and sleep disorders
• Neurodegenerative and musculoskeletal diseases and pain management
• Drug discovery from traditional medicine
• Physical therapies
• Public health and health service research
• Research is undertaken in a strongly multi-disciplinary environment that brings clinical and basic researchers together to undertake novel research at the boundaries between disciplines.

With RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours), you'll design aircraft and spacecraft, develop propulsion systems, research new materials, test new engines, develop rockets and plan maintenance subjects.

In this internationally recognised degree you'll gain specialist skills in analysing, designing, and operating sophisticated aeronautics and astronautics hardware and software.

You'll study a broad range of areas such as aerodynamics, aerospace materials and structures, aerospace systems, design, dynamics and control, thermodynamics, and propulsion.

Minor options in Aircraft and Spacecraft Technologies will allow you to tailor the degree to suit your areas of interest and enhance your career opportunities.

Sustainability issues are built into multiple areas of the aerospace engineering degree. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of the principles of chemical engineering and pharmaceutical sciences, allowing you to apply your knowledge to large scale production in the pharmaceutical industry.

You’ll have the opportunity to design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, as well as taking part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge — a humanitarian-focused course offered in all RMIT engineering degrees.

To ensure you graduate job-ready, you’ll also have an opportunity to undertake a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective.

RMIT's Bachelor of Food Technology and Nutrition will provide you with a foundational knowledge of the science of manufacturing food and making it safe and nutritious.

You will learn how to develop novel, healthy and functional food products that meet consumer demands and comply with strict safety and health guidelines.

Major in food technology or nutrition (or both). The nutrition major focuses on human health and nutrition subjects, while the food technology major deals with traditional and novel technologies employed in the manufacture of food products, as well as sensory evaluation of foods, product development and quality assurance.

As a student in this degree, you will build the necessary knowledge to perform and oversee a range of diagnostic procedures in a clinical pathology laboratory. You'll also hone your skills in problem solving and critical thinking.

During this degree, you will choose two areas of specialisation. These advanced clinical pathology discipline streams include:

• Anatomical pathology
• Clinical biochemistry
• Haematology
• Medical microbiology
• Transfusion and transplantation science.

Upon graduation, you'll have built high-level skills in analysis and knowledge integration relevant to your area of specialisation.

The Master of Laboratory Medicine is designed for graduates of general science or biomedical science degrees who are interested in a career in diagnostic pathology or medical research but who lack experience in the diagnostic laboratory disciplines.

The Master of Clinical Psychology provides you with the advanced knowledge and clinical skills that will enable you to function as professional clinical psychologist in a wide range of health, community and allied settings.

This training encompasses a wide range of theoretical and applied topics, such as knowledge of psychological principles, application of psychological theories and models, design and implementation of psychological interventions, ethical, legal and professional aspects of psychological practice, psychological assessment and measurement, applied research and evaluation, and communication and interpersonal relationships.

Advanced skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment are imparted through intensive, small-group face-to-face didactic lectures/seminars, tutorials, case presentations, role plays and workshops. Students receive ample opportunities to develop advanced therapeutic skills within a cognitive-behavioural framework and other contemporary evidence-based theoretical paradigms, utilising the scientist-practitioner model.

It is a unique supervisor-guided independent research project with complimentary workshops in research methods and scientific communication appropriate to your chosen research discipline. Specifically, the benefits of an honours degree are:

In RMIT's Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, you will learn about the human body and the use of drugs to treat disease.

Throughout your pharmaceutical studies, you will develop knowledge about the human body, the action of drugs in them, and ways in which the pharmaceutical industry can deliver more reliable, accessible and effective treatments.

In addition to an understanding of pharmacology and physiology, this biomedical science degree will teach you about the development of new drugs, the clinical use of medications, and the legal and regulatory aspects of developing medicines.

You will gain an understanding of biochemistry, cell biology, and physiology, and an in-depth knowledge of pharmacology, clinical trials, drug development, and therapeutics, to prepare you for a multidisciplinary career in the pharmaceutical industry
