In this degree, you’ll gain extensive knowledge of developments in urban cities, the increasing need for residential and commercial properties, and the renovation of elements of the built environment.
Developed in response to industry demand, the subjects in this degree will take you through the skills you need in planning, coordination and control of a project, from inception through to to completion.

You will develop the knowledge and technical skills to deliver construction projects safely, and build confidence in managing the process from start to finish.

Gain the skills you need to become a technician in laboratories in hospitals, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, private pathology and testing laboratories.

In the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, you will be taught to apply your knowledge of living systems to solving important practical issues including controlling disease and making the environment safer.
Using the latest industry-standard equipment, you’ll build the knowledge and skills required to work under supervision to:

• Examine micro-organisms or changes in cells and tissues
• Perform analysis of pathology, environmental and chemical samples
• Assist with research into biochemical or genetic processes.

You will also benefit from the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Upon completion of this certificate, you may go on to work in vaccine production, food and materials testing, pathology, or research. Alternatively, you might prefer to pursue the Diploma of Laboratory Technology, or other further study of your choice.

Public relations is a career for people with enquiring minds. Advising organisations on how to enhance their working relationships and reputation is at the heart of modern PR.
The Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) prepares you for the increasingly globalised, technology-driven world of public relations within corporate, government, not-for-profit and consultancy environments.

This degree includes subjects in strategic communication and theory, principles, research, and contextual studies. These subjects promote analytical and research skills and provide a broader learning experience. You will gain professional skills in writing techniques, media and stakeholder relations, strategy and industry research, with an emphasis on problem solving, creativity, relationship development and project management.

You'll build your skills and knowledge on campus and in a variety of work-integrated learning environments. You will be exposed to other fields of applied communication practice and how they converge with public relations.

In the Master of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), you will explore the application of scientific principles to understand risks to the safety of people in workplaces, and the actions required to control them.

It is a multidisciplinary profession with applications in all industries and commerce. 
Both community expectation and government legislation demand an increasingly higher level of protection for employees and the community from risks that threaten their safety and health. As such, there is also an increasing demand in society for professionals with experience and qualifications in OHS.

You will also have the opportunity to pursue a research stream, allowing you to deepen your knowledge and distinguish yourself from the competition in the market. It will also support your career progression to senior management or consultancy roles.

At RMIT, computer and network engineering are taught together to provide graduates with the opportunity to work in their preferred field.

You will learn and implement the fundamental technologies behind computerised, smart and intelligent digital systems used in modern life. The degree allows you to focus your skills on a range of computer systems and network engineering topics ranging from the Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, sensor networks, high-performance parallel processing, real-time embedded hardware control and data communication networks. You will learn the fundamental topics in both computer and network engineering fields and then choose to specialise in either area to ensure that you graduate work-ready.

You'll gain the knowledge and skills to find better solutions to challenges in design, construction and maintenance of software and hardware components of computing and computer-controlled devices, equipment and systems. This could include communication networks and automation of electrical and electronic systems; audio and visual information acquisition, processing and communications; human-machine interaction, industrial or medical instrumentation and monitoring; and provision of security for computer systems and networks.

In computer engineering, you'll learn how to create new opportunities for businesses by driving new technologies and solutions to make businesses more productive and competitive. From designing and developing new microcontroller-based products and systems, to enhancing functionalities of those that currently exist, there are plenty of possibilities in a world of ever-changing market needs and consumer demands.

During network engineering studies you'll learn about the design, implementation and maintenance of digital communication networks. In this degree, network engineering looks at technology, audio and visual communications over wired and wireless networks, network management and software defined networks, optimising network performance and network security.

You'll have the opportunity to design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, as well as taking part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge - a humanitarian-focused course offered in all RMIT engineering degrees.

To ensure you graduate job-ready, you'll also have an opportunity to undertake a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective.

In the Diploma of Information Technology you will be guided by experienced teachers with extensive industry experience to develop a project portfolio designed to help launch a career in IT.
