Indigenous studies
Gain an understanding of diverse First Nation cultures and societies. This program begins with exploring current and traditional Indigenous knowledge, philosophies, and cultural values tied to country. The Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Honours) at UNSW is a four-year full-time degree, where you’ll learn how to improve the interior environments in which we live, work and play.

Through a combination of creative thinking and making, you’ll study and work within a design community that collectively reimagines and reshapes the interior environments within our homes, workspaces and cities.

From the manipulation of the spatial, material and structural elements of a space to exploring interior architecture through theory and practice – you’ll graduate with the confidence and work experience you need to take the next step in your interior architecture journey.

The Master of Clinical Optometry combines the theoretical discipline of vision science with the clinical art of primary eye care.

We rely heavily on our five senses to navigate life: touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. Each of these senses play a vital role in our day-to-day lives. Problems with eyesight can have a profound impact on an individual’s life. Through optometry, many vision problems and eye diseases can be corrected or managed, restoring sight to people from all walks of life.

Optometrists diagnose vision problems, eye diseases and other eye health issues. These highly skilled professionals correct poor vision and manage or slow degenerative eye diseases with corrective lenses, optical aids, therapy or medication.

The Master of Clinical Optometry is a two-year degree that serves as a pathway to registered practice as an optometrist in Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia. It combines the theoretical discipline of vision science, the optics of lenses and instruments, the physiology of the eye, the psychophysics of vision and neuroscience with the clinical art of primary eye care, which covers the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, the dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, the management of people with special needs (children, low vision), sports vision and vision in the workplace.

The UNSW Master of Laws (LLM) is a one-year full-time postgraduate degree that offers you the opportunity to develop an advanced and contemporary understanding of one or more areas of legal study, acquire further expertise and enhance your career prospects.

International Law
International law occupies an ever-growing role in our lives, whether it is about big issues like refugee protection or small issues like online shopping. This specialisation will provide you with a strong theoretical and practical understanding of the international legal system, the workings of international politics and their effect on each other. You'll acquire an advanced level of knowledge and analytical ability about the issues, problems and conduct of international law. 

This Master of Laws specialisation draws on the excellence offered by UNSW Law & Justice, where our academic staff (not to mention visiting lecturers and guest presenters) provide top-level teaching and guidance. Our academic staff often advise governments, the United Nations and other international organisations on a range of legal issues. The Bachelor of Media at UNSW unlocks the specialist expertise, self-knowledge, creative thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to make an impact as a media professional, or simply set you up as a more aware professional to succeed in your second and third job, not just your first.

You’ll have the opportunity to tailor a degree to your specific interests. Specialise in cinema studies, communications and journalism, media studies, public relations & advertising, or screen production. Here, you’ll develop practical job skills as well as conceptual, strategic, creative, and critical capabilities to help you make your impact in the exciting and fast-changing media industries.

Media studies
Gain the critical skills and knowledge you need to understand, analyse, and respond to the pivotal role of media in contemporary life. After building a firm foundation in media studies debates, methods, and history, you’ll be able to choose from a suite of electives that allow you to sharpen your focus on questions relating to justice, race, ethics, or emerging technologies. 

You’ll develop critical thinking and writing skills that allow you to make persuasive arguments, engage with challenging issues, and solve new problems. With an array of research methods and analytical techniques in your back pocket, you’ll bring your combination of critical and creative skills to life as a media change-maker.

UNSW Master of Engineering (Mining) is a two-year full-time postgraduate degree taught at Australia’s top engineering faculty. Upon graduation you’ll have the engineering accreditation to help you get ahead in your career. The flexible degree offers in-depth knowledge and technical ability in your specialisation of mining while contributing to your ongoing professional development. You’ll develop your skills in engineering management, analysis and design that you’ll apply through practical experience in industrial training.

This degree is designed for students with an undergraduate degree wanting to pursue a career in the Engineering profession with an accreditation by Engineers Australia. You’ll graduate with a qualification that is internationally recognised by the Washington Accord and is globally recognised to facilitate the mobility of engineers.

The Master of Engineering includes an integrated 60 days industrial training component and courses to develop your technical knowledge and skills in engineering management, analysis and design to ensure you graduate career-ready and accredited.

You’ll have the opportunity to undertake an extensive research project to extend your knowledge in a specific area of interest. The project enables students to gain valuable skills in project planning and management and learn methods to undertake the critical analysis, interpretation and communication of results.

The Master of Actuarial Studies equips you with the data analytics and quantitative risk management training for an actuarial career, and careers in finance.

Through this degree, you’ll learn to apply advanced analytical techniques, deliver highly valued data analytics, and actionable insights. You’ll also develop a specialist quantitative skill set in actuarial models, financial mathematics, probability, machine learning / artificial intelligence analytics, and commerce. The program is accredited by the Actuaries Institute and includes courses and electives to develop your future career as a business professional.

The program has also earned the University-Earned Credit (UEC) program status for Financial Mathematics (FM) exam and Statistics for Risk Modelling (SRM) exam. This UEC program facilitates the pathway for students who pursue the Society of Actuaries (SOA) profession by providing opportunities to earn credit for SOA exams.

Graduates of actuarial studies are in high demand. Upon graduation you’ll be ready for a quantitative role in a range of industries including financial services, insurance, and superannuation, and be equipped help businesses, governments, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals make critical decisions for the future.

If you have already completed an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Studies, the Master of Actuarial Studies will allow you to complete courses equivalent to the Foundation Program of the Actuaries Institute. You can also complete the "Actuarial Control Cycle" and "Data Analytics Principles" courses of the Actuary Program.

Surveying supports all construction activity and infrastructure engineering in urban and rural environments, as well as mapping and monitoring the natural environment. Activities include defining land boundaries, engineering and mining surveying, offshore surveys, digital mapping, precise positioning and property development.

Surveying is a perfect combination of indoors and outdoors. You'll learn how to use a range of hi-tech tools such as GPSs, laser scanners, mapping drones and surveying robots to create high definition 3D models of the built and natural environment. You'll also learn how to apply maths and powerful software to deliver products for a range of applications. To get you work ready, you'll apply these skills through 60 days of approved industry training.85
