At the same time heritage places have become significant tourist destinations and so in a world of flows and networks, the heritage-tourism relationship is a critical one. In the 21st century it is impossible to disentangle the two.

This major introduces contemporary heritage issues and provides an in-depth understanding of tourism as a social phenomenon. It enables a critical examination of the relationship between heritage and tourism in number of settings within Australia (including Indigenous Australia) and internationally.

This double degree program is designed for students whose interests span the Arts and Social Sciences.

It will give you the skills and versatility to work across a range of academic and professional disciplines, including the opportunity to develop global perspectives and communication skills.

You need to include a Social Science Major, so you can design your own academic program within the Bachelor of Social Science program structure.

In the Bachelor of Communication, through classwork, independent study and engagement with the multicultural nature of our communities, students develop an understanding of the local and international relevance of their chosen studies, with opportunities to develop and produce a range of media outcomes as applied research and professional projects throughout their studies. The Bachelor of Laws provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. The Advertising major gives students a thorough grounding in general principles of communication as well as practical skills in advertising.

The business component of the double degree will allow you to gain knowledge in one of three core Business areas: Money, Markets or Management. Our philosophy major enables you to develop particular skills and attributes – such as clear thinking, capacities to assess arguments and values, and sound understanding of important philosophical views – that have always been essential to university scholarship and which continue to be valuable for graduates in both public and private life.

The Graduate Diploma program in public health is designed for health professionals who wish to extend and consolidate both practical and research skills for public health practice. For this program, students will study a wide range of evaluation processes and research methods relating to public health and policy analysis, economic evaluation, epidemiology and biostatistics. This program provides an entry point to the Master of Public Health for those who wish to continue their professional development with further studies.

Subjects of study include: A Global Perspective on Social Determinants of Health; Public Health, Policy and Society; Introduction to Epidemiology; and Introduction to Biostatistics.

You will additionally complete four electives from a wide range of fields of study including but not limited to Communicable Diseases, Health Workforce Planning, Building Organisational Capacity in Health Care and Surveillance and Disaster Planning.

Applied Finance

The Applied Finance major equips you with the expert skills to create a career as a finance specialist. In this major you will develop in-depth knowledge of finance with a focus on investment and securities, economics, and banking and finance.

The core units in the Bachelor of Business will provide you a foundation of business knowledge and develop your skills in innovation, career planning, and numeracy.

The Applied Finance major builds on this knowledge and skills in an applied discipline based context. It satisfies the educational requirements for membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).

This double degree program is designed for students whose interests span the Arts and Sciences. Our graduates work across a range of academic and professional disciplines, including the opportunity to develop global perspectives.

Creative Writing

The Creative Writing major provides students the opportunity to produce their own creative writing and to edit and publish their work.

Students study with professional authors, editors and publishers from the Writing and Society Research Centre and staff from the School of Humanities and Communication Arts.

In addition, students have the opportunity to study contemporary approaches to language and literary studies, including literary criticism and theory, linguistic analysis, genre and textual study, and to read and examine a wide selection of modern and classic literatures.
