Human Nutrition

The Human Nutrition Major in within the Bachelor of Medical Science uses biology, chemistry and physiology to develop concepts in food and nutrient form and function in relation to human metabolism and physiology. This major takes students through the ingestion, digestion, absorption, storage and utilization of proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and trace element. Students learn how these nutrients can be managed with respect to appetite, exercise, health and disease as well as develop a wide range of laboratory and research skills. Students will also develop critical analytical skills to assess and implement recommendations for testing, monitoring and community education.

This major covers theories and technologies used for the development of distributed applications for hand-held mobile devices. Students completing this major will understand the advanced principles related to mobile hardware devices, data storage and transmission, and communication networks. In addition they will identify, analyse, and formulate solutions to real-world problems in the mobile domain. In devising these solutions students will also consider principles associated with user interface design, professional and ethical issues, in particular those relating to security and privacy of user data and user behaviour related to mobile devices and its applications.

The Master of Cross-cultural Relations has a practical focus of cultural exchanges between Australia and China, but the knowledge and research skills acquired are applicable to all cultural relations. The major in Media Arts Production is designed to provide students with production skills, complete with practical hands-on experience together with a theoretical foundation in the moving, visual media. From 2017 this specialisation is available on Parramatta campus only.
