In this degree, you will explore the worlds of criminology and crime, and gain fascinating insights into our criminal justice institutions and practices. Western’s Bachelor of Criminology allows you to study crime and criminal justice in a conceptual and applied way, and gain an understanding of how these things affect society. Robotics and Mechatronic

Robotics and Mechatronic engineering combines electrical, computing and mechanical engineering and is at the forefront in designing smart machines and systems, such as pilotless spacecraft, car cruise control, automated factories and medical telerobotics. Students explore intelligent mechanical systems and automation through an extensive and integrated hands-on laboratory program, as well as work-integrated industry projects. Students learn in-depth knowledge about the design and construction of these systems to integrate, evaluate and address their performance. The multidisciplinary skills students develop are sought after by leading edge industries, including aerospace and biomedical engineering.

Indigenous Australian Studies

The Indigenous Australian Studies major offers you the exciting opportunity to acquire key cultural competencies that will enable you to understand and work more effectively with Indigenous Australians in professions such as the arts, communications, media, education, government and non-government, policy, health, sciences, and community services.

The Indigenous Australian Studies major addresses the cultural, historical, social and economic issues affecting Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and relationships.

The Master of Clinical Psychology develops competent clinical psychologists by combining advanced academic knowledge with real-life experience to suit a variety of career needs and interests.

The program provides thorough training in a range of mental health issues and equips you with the ability to implement effective evidence-based interventions that are tailored to clients' requirements.

Clinical psychologists offer psychological assessment and treatment for a wide range of mental health problems. This program is designed to provide you with training across a host of mental health issues and settings. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to effectively meet the diverse needs of clients.

At Western, our mandate is to develop your understanding through programwork, a research project, and 1,000 hours of supervised experience in clinical and other appropriate settings.

You will also explore the inner workings of the human mind, be given the knowledge and skills you need to understand dysfunctional behaviour and psychopathology, and learn how to implement effective evidence-based interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy.

Western’s Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) prepares you for an unlimited career in the building industry. Along with the full suite of theory and practical knowledge that enable to develop a broad-based view of how the construction industry operates, you will gain a strong understanding of construction technology; construction economics; construction law; and construction project management through this degree.

You could also opt to specialise either in ‘quantity surveying’ or ‘building surveying’ by undertaking relevant suite of electives under each specialisation pathways.

This major aims to promote understanding of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) concepts in healthcare including electronic healthcare records; healthcare data analysis; fundamentals of medicine concepts and disease classification; healthcare system interoperability and design. Peace and Development Studies

The Peace and Development Studies major is concerned with inequalities of power and opportunity that lead to international and local conflict, uneven development, social dislocation and environmental degradation. This major examines the structural causes of racist and gendered violence, environmental crises, forced migration, poverty, resource conflict, and inter-generational inequity.

You will be introduced to theories and methods for identifying, measuring and resolving conflict and environmental degradation. Constructive solutions include empowerment and self-determination, sustainable living, peace building and conflict resolution strategies.

The major is organised around three fields of inquiry: structural inequality, social justice and human rights; development and sustainability; and peace and humanitarian responses/ actions.

During your studies, you will engage with social theory within an interdisciplinary and applied framework of important civic and global issues.
