The Professional Masters Preparation Certificate (PMPC) is an eight-month preparation program that guides you through the challenges that you will encounter as an international student in a North American professional graduate school. We’ll help you improve your English language skills, gain confidence in academic situations and create a North American academic record. The PMPC is dedicated to helping you overcome foreseeable academic and cultural difficulties and acquire the understanding and skills to make the transition to graduate work smoother and ultimately more successful.

The PMPC is a formal certificate program. Students who successfully complete this program will receive a Brock University certificate. You will also be considered for conditional admission to either the MBA (ISP) or MPAcc (ISP) for the next intake when you apply.

Study Geography in Niagara – one of the world’s most diverse social and natural landscapes.

Geographers look at the world from a unique perspective, one that bridges the social and natural sciences. Our programs are designed to combine theory and practical experience to train you in Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Geomatics.

Human Geography aims to understand the human world and its interaction with physical, built and symbolic landscapes. This knowledge is used to work towards more equitable societies.

Physical Geography aims to explain the geographic pattern of weather and climate, landform development and their interactions with the biosphere. This is done by studying processes at the Earth’s surface and how they interact with, affect and are affected by human activities.

Geomatics includes scientific and technological activities that integrate various fields, including cartography, remote sensing and geographical information systems (GIS).

Our department has been blending theory and practice for more than five decades through experiential learning in labs, seminars, field courses, internships and much more. These experiences have been developed to help you apply what you learn in class outside the classroom walls.

Professors in our programs engage in a broad range of research activities and incorporate interactive elements into their courses. This often includes spending time outside of the classroom around campus and across Niagara.

Study tourism in Niagara — one of the world’s premier travel destinations and home to a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Our program is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving industry, incorporating principles of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and political) in tourism management and planning. Within the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, our program examines such questions as: Can we balance the economic benefits of tourism with the negative consequences of pollution, loss of biodiversity, economic inequality and unsuitable cultural change?

This program offers the students a broad understanding of physical education, applies knowledge from humanities, social sciences and biosciences and allows maximum opportunities for students to pursue various courses and study a wide range of issues related to human movement.

Brock University is one of the few Canadian universities that meets the national accreditation standards set by the by the Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators and teaches the students human movement via practical investigations and theoretical classes and adequate personal movement experience, preparing students for further education, research and professional service in the same industry.

The graduates of the course will have a comprehensive understanding of the issues and current trends in education and early care for children, starting from birth to eight years old and will be prepared to work or further study in the field of education and care for young children.

The graduates of this program are expected to take on positions that need a strong foundation in early care and education, to teacher education programs towards an Ontario Teaching Certificate or apply to graduate studies.

The Media and Communication Studies program focuses on the impact of media and communication in the creation of meaning, identity and social change. The program emphasizes the study of media content, audiences and institutions in their political, economic and social contexts in Canada and elsewhere.

State-of-the-art equipment and internationally recognized faculty and research projects make our department a dynamic and exciting place.

Studies concentrate on various aspects of solid-state and materials research, from superconductors to soft-condensed matter systems. Our undergraduate students are involved in research — some have even published papers before graduation.

We have some of the most advanced equipment in the field. While other schools often reserve the newest equipment exclusively for research, all of Brock’s facilities are used for both teaching and research.

Our commitment to hands-on learning makes our graduates, especially skilled and adept scientists. You’ll be a key partner in our research activities, participating in special research courses and paid summer research. You might even have the opportunity to co-author a publication.

We’ll provide you with a comprehensive education encompassing sensory science, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, plant physiology and cell biology.

Your education will be enhanced by an opportunity to apply what you learn in the lecture hall with hands-on winemaking labs and viticulture field-work. Extracurricular lectures and events organized by Brock’s internationally renowned Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (brocku.ca/ccovi) connect you with leading researchers in the field.

We’ll prepare you for a career in Information Technology (IT), an industry that is transforming our world and workplaces. You’ll study data structures, operating systems, database systems, industry-standard programming languages, software engineering and user interfaces.

You can take specialized courses in object orientation, computer graphics, intelligent systems, computer networks, advanced Internet, neural networks, computer music (digital music), parallel computing and compiler construction.

The honors program offers two concentrations:

• Software Engineering focuses on programming and systems analysis for application development.
• Intelligent Systems focuses on making computers solve problems that normally require human intelligence to solve.
