How do social constructs like gender, race and class impact the experience of individuals? How do movements for social justice support progress towards a more equitable world? As a Sociology student at Trent, you will explore and question a diverse range of social topics, completing your studies with an understanding of social organizations and institutions and people’s place in them. These explorations can take place both in the classroom and beyond – through the new B.A. Co-op stream you can put skills to action across three work terms in professional settings. This program is progressive, critical and timely in the way it engages students in not only understanding but also acting on the consequences of social change with practical learning components. Through this degree, you’ll explore and question a diverse range of social topics, completing your studies with a heightened understanding of human relationships and society, rooted in the social sciences and inspired by a passion for social justice. The study of Philosophy can shed light on some of the most fundamental and important questions we ask as human beings. At Trent, you’ll explore your place in the world, the nature of reality, the meaning of human existence, and the limits of knowledge. You will be encouraged to develop your own philosophical positions as you cultivate your ability to reason logically, question commonly held assumptions, and develop a worldview that does justice to the complexity of life.

Ethics (Specialization):-
Social movements like #MeToo, political debates over border walls and Brexit, and headline grabbing questions over cloning and online privacy all make one thing clear - there is growing need for ethically minded individuals in every sector. For students pursuing a single or joint-major Philosophy degree, this specialization offers a solid foundation in ethical theory and applied ethics related to the fields of medicine, resource management, computing, law, and business.

As a B.E.S.S. student at one of Canada’s top postsecondary environmental institutions, develop a strong understanding of solutions to natural resource and environmental problems and learn how to combine scientific and social knowledge effectively in this interdisciplinary joint arts-science degree. You will gain an understanding of the scientific aspects of contemporary environmental issues that are linked to policy and planning decisions leading to an environmentally sustainable future. Accelerated Master's Degree:-

Quebec and Franco-Canadian Studies (Specialization):-
Learn more than just the grammatical and linguistic elements of the French language, examining the challenges and triumphs that have shaped the language culturally, socially, and politically around the globe.

Go beyond the boundaries of your French major, exploring French as a linguistic force that exceeds provincial borders and has influence across the globe as a language of power. Immerse yourself in the culture, literature, and history of Que?bec and French Canada to understand the social and political dimensions of Canada’s second official language.

In this program, the first-of-its-kind anywhere in North America, you’ll study a unique mix of Indigenous knowledge and Western teachings, learning from Indigenous and non-Indigenous faculty, elders, guest speakers and other scholars.

IES brings together the principles of both Indigenous knowledge and Western science. Here, you’ll explore complex topics such as climate change, sustainable communities and Indigenous health and environment. By applying a cross-cultural approach, you’ll learn to generate solutions to the complex local, regional, national, and international issues facing Indigenous peoples and communities around the world.

In Conservation Biology you’ll study the science behind the decline of biological diversity to better understand the solutions to this worldwide crisis.

Chemistry can help you make informed decisions not just about science, but about all of life. An intellectually challenging and rewarding subject, Chemistry explores the diverse makeup of our world and contributes to most other areas of physical and life sciences. You’ll learn about fundamental discoveries in chemistry and work towards contributing to them while gaining experience in modern chemical research, experimental design and technical laboratory skills.
