Massey’s Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy with Honours will set you up for a rewarding career working alongside people of all ages with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.

As a speech-language therapist you’ll facilitate independence in individuals. You’ll assess children, young people and adults with a variety of communication and swallowing disorders and work with them to improve their ability to participate in school, work and other daily activities. You may work with children who have speech and/or language disorders, or adults living with a traumatic brain injury or stroke.

You’ll have an impact on people’s quality of life.

Massey’s Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy with Honours combines academic coursework with supervised clinical experience. You’ll work alongside practising speech-language therapists to gain clinical hours in a wide range of settings. These could include:

• Schools
• Hospitals
• Rehabilitation centres
• Child development services, and
• Community settings across New Zealand.

What will you learn?
This program focuses on developing critical awareness of and expertise in the following areas:

• Quality management and its component aspects (inspection, quality control, assurance, and continual improvement).
• Contemporary quality thinking and methods including iso systems, statistical thinking, systems thinking, business excellence, lean, and six sigma improvement.
• The application of management theory to quality systems
• Ability to conduct self-directed research in an aspect of quality management theory or practice

• Management of people undertaking quality projects and the people-related aspects of quality program implementation.

Topics you will study include quality systems design, lean management, six sigma statistical analysis, value chain management and quality improvement. You will learn how to undertake in-depth research, followed by your own in-depth research (thesis) on an area of interest to you.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Politics and International Relations) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in politics.

Politics is exciting and relevant. It’s about contests for power and how we make decisions in society: who gets what, when and how, from the local community to the global level. It’s concerned with the conflict of ideas and values. It has to do with who governs, with how and why decisions that affect all of us (such as how much students should pay to study at university or whether the UN should sanction military interventions) are made.
