Course modules include Mechatronics Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence which introduces you to model-based system engineering and the mechatronic philosophies of design, Programming and Software Engineering to develop knowledge of efficient programming approaches to software engineering with an emphasis on practical programming skills and Engineering Business Environment which enable students to understand and reflect upon the role of business in a rapidly changing, globalised world. 

As a Software Engineering student at DMU, you will develop the technical skills needed to design and build software that is used in everyday devices and systems across our homes, workplaces and communities.

This course is a specialist pathway within Computer Science sharing similar subjects for the first two years of study. Final year study includes a distinctive focus on building software across different platforms including contemporary mobile devices and embedded systems.

You will also learn about the structure of organisations, gaining insight into the commercial context in which systems are commissioned and deployed.as well as introduced to computing ethics and law.

Analyse the most significant issues of the 21st century, such as factors that influence states going to war, why some states are weaker than others are, and how global order is maintained. Our course will enable you to obtain an advanced understanding of the modern world, including the way in which states, regions and international organisations interact, and practice a range of methods and methodologies to support research and policy analysis.

Our History programme is diverse, international in focus and innovative. Exploring primarily modern and contemporary history, this course will teach you the skills for effective research and analysis, helping to hone your ability to absorb, communicate and critically analyse complex information.

Reflecting the globalised world we live in, the curriculum covers a British, South Asian, European and African and North and South American history and explores topics such as colonialism, decolonisation, immigration, ethnic minorities, gender, photographic history and the history of sport and leisure.
