The UK aerospace and aeronautical industry is the largest in Europe and the second largest in the world. This broad-based engineering course aims to train the next generation of aerospace professionals by providing technical skills in key areas of aeronautical engineering, supplemented by topics in material sciences, digital manufacturing and management concepts. Our graduates will leave with the advanced technical know-how required to work in the aircraft industry, along with a solid understanding of relevant management concepts.

You will study core modules in Advanced Flight Dynamics, Advanced Computational Aerodynamics and Instrumentation, Unmanned Aero Vehicle Design, Sensor Networks and more, with the choice of optional modules including Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul, Composite Materials, Digital Manufacture, and Systems Operation and Management.

Computational Intelligence (CI) encompasses the techniques and methods used to tackle problems that traditional approaches to computing struggle to solve. The four areas of fuzzy logic, neural networks, CI optimisation and knowledge-based systems encompass much of what is considered to be computational (or artificial) intelligence. There are also opportunities to apply what you learn in areas such as robot control and games development, depending on your interests. ? 

You can choose from a number of specialist modules including natural language processing, artificial neural networks and data mining techniques, while developing your skills in our dedicated robotics laboratory, equipped with a variety of mobile robots. The applied computational intelligence?module considers knowledge-based systems, as well as the historical, philosophical and future implications of AI, and focuses on current research and applications in the area. 

Reducing energy consumption which contributes to global climate change and pollution is an international imperative, and the future architect must be equipped with the skills and vision to tackle this challenge both innovatively and responsibly. This course helps you master the knowledge and skills required to produce thermally comfortable, healthy, and habitable building designs while minimising energy consumptions. You will explore an extensive range of approaches to creating and performing, such as multi-track recording, production and composition, new technologies for musical performance, music and sound for moving image, sound synthesis theory and practice, site-specific and installation work, computer coding for the creative artist, and advanced surround sound.

Architectural Technology is concerned with new and existing buildings and examines how detail relates to the design concept. It will also help advance your architectural management proficiency by bringing together all aspects of the design process, from concept through to completion.

You will explore methods of sustainability to inform architectural design, and develop an awareness of ecological footprints, materials, and embodied energy along with processes of achieving sustainable design.
