This broad-based engineering course aims to train the next generation of aerospace professionals by providing technical skills in key areas of aeronautical engineering, supplemented by topics in material sciences, digital manufacturing and management concepts. During the final part of the course you will apply this knowledge to the formulation, investigation and detailed development of a major design brief. This project is a chance to hone your skills as an independent researcher and gain first-hand experience of important professional skills, including digital manufacturing processes, reporting, and creating design presentations. 

As a Software Engineering student at DMU, you will develop the technical skills needed to design and build software that is used in everyday devices and systems across our homes, workplaces and communities.

This course is a specialist pathway within Computer Science sharing similar subjects for the first two years of study. Final year study includes a distinctive focus on building software across different platforms including contemporary mobile devices and embedded systems.

You will also learn about the structure of organisations, gaining insight into the commercial context in which systems are commissioned and deployed.as well as introduced to computing ethics and law.

Interior Design challenges us to reimagine existing interiors as well as challenge the idea of ‘space’ to create innovative and experiential spaces. It focuses on the way people interact within these environments, considering comfort, usability, effectiveness, aesthetics and emotional connection.

On this course you’ll explore the regeneration and adaptation of real buildings and sites and learn how to turn old commercial premises into exciting new spaces for exhibition, retail, leisure, eating and socialising purposes. You’ll develop visual communication skills in drawing, 3D modelling, computing, video-modelscope, computer-aided design (CAD) and virtual reality. Your work will respond to future global challenges and reflect the importance of sustainability and inclusivity in contemporary interior design.

You’ll also learn about the importance of design cultures and heritage, and culture and context. This solid foundation will enable you to develop your own personal style and design identity and, as you grow in confidence, you’ll become increasingly autonomous as you pursue individual design projects.

On this course, you can specialise in menswear, womenswear and or fashion knitwear, and will study a range of topics including fashion illustration, innovative concept development, pattern cutting and computer-aided design (CAD) for fashion and design development - preparing you for a career in a creative multibillion-pound industry where you can benefit from countless opportunities to develop, progress and learn new skills.

You will be introduced to the academic, professional, industrial and commercial challenges of design practice. In the first year, everyone will undertake a standard first-year syllabus, studying core modules in Constitutional and Administrative law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, and English and European Legal Contexts. A range of delivery and assessment styles will fully prepare students for subsequent years of study.

The focus on foundational legal knowledge and skills will continue in the second and third year with modules on Land Law, Law of Tort, and Equity and Trusts. You will also develop functional awareness through Inter-professional Legal Skills.

You will have the opportunity after your first year to focus your studies by selecting a preferred specialism pathway in one of the following areas: Business Law, Criminal Justice, Human Rights & Social Justice, Sociolegal Studies and International Law. Alternatively, you can continue on the Law LLB pathway.
