Keele takes a broad approach to biology, examining the diversity of life and its evolution from the geological past. You’ll consider a range of biological topics which may include the complexity of biological processes and mechanisms at molecular, cellular, organismal and ecosystem levels and related philosophical and ethical issues. You’ll explore topics such as how bodies work, how animals behave and the uses to which we can put plants. You'll develop your practical skill set by engaging in activities which may include sampling, recording and analysing data in the field and in our well-equipped labs.

This course covers the main aspects of pharmaceutical discovery and development, including product formulation, manufacture and quality assurance, and explains how such pure and applied sciences fit into the global pharmaceutical business, legal and regulatory frameworks. This includes elements of clinical development and the role of the pharmaceutical scientist within the industry team that take a drug from research to the clinic. 

Psychology will teach you how to design and conduct your own psychological studies in our well-equipped labs using a range of quantitative and qualitative techniques. You will share closely the excitement of new discoveries in psychology working alongside academic staff on research projects like brain electrophysiology to studies on alcohol, and from conflict resolution and forgiveness to how young people respond to advertising. Trade, investment and finance cut across national boundaries and are governed by a complex web of transnational laws and regulations. As a result, the demand for professionals with a rich understanding of how law and business operate at a global level continues to grow. This LLM in International, Commercial and Business Law offers students with undergraduate qualifications in Law or Business the opportunity for advanced study in both disciplines and prepares them for the challenges of advising companies, governments and other institutions on issues such as the regulation of international trade, foreign investors' rights, and international litigation.

You’ll learn to use chemistry in problem solving, and to present your theories and findings confidently and imaginatively. For the Forensic Science element of the course, you will be taught by academics and forensic professionals, as well as gaining valuable lab and crime scene experience, helping you to stay ahead in this fast-moving science. You will be taught in our modern laboratory facilities and have access to equipment and our dedicated Crime Scene House.

Our law degree examines law in its social, political, ethical, historical and international contexts. You’ll explore core legal subjects such as crime, torts, contract, land, equity and public law, developing your understanding of the rules which structure relationships between governments and citizens, and between private individuals. You’ll study principles and doctrines of English, European and International law and have plenty of opportunities to develop your practical skills. You can take part in both internal and external competitions in mooting (practising oral arguments), client interviewing, negotiation and could volunteer (subject to a selection process) as a Community Legal Companion, within the innovative CLOCK programme or in our Divorce or Commercial Law Legal Advice Clinics. 

The course is designed with the aim of producing a new generation of potential global industry leaders with a broad, solutions-focused knowledge of the applied pharmaceutical sciences and who are able to participate in and manage global product development teams.

This year-long, 180-credit MSc is split into three, equal-credit semesters. The first semester of the course aims to equip you with the necessary business skills and integrate this with the pharmaceutical science knowledge needed in product development and management with two business modules delivered by our Keele Business School. The second semester continues to build on this knowledge but also has more laboratory-based modules to allow you to develop your laboratory skills and demonstrate how well you are able to apply the necessary pharmaceutical knowledge required within each session. The final semester allows you to specialise into an area of your interest with a project that can either be research or audit based, in an appropriate subject relating to pharmaceutical development and business management.

Keele’s Biochemistry programmes offer broad and stimulating coverage of modern biochemistry. You might explore the secrets of the human genome, or the individually tailored molecular therapies of the future. You will focus on areas of biochemistry which could include human and mammalian biochemsitry relating to health and disease.

This combined honours degree includes Medicinal Chemistry, where you’ll develop deep understanding of the complex chemical and biological processes involved in the design and manufacture of drugs and other therapies for treating disease. This course prepares you to help solve problems at the intersection of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and pharmacology. The goal of medicinal chemistry is to support the search for new drugs to treat conditions such as heart disease and cancer. You’ll work in well-equipped laboratories, and learn to conduct effective independent research. Keele also offers support to find an industrial or research placement for a summer. You’ll develop essential skills for employment, such as problem solving, presentation and communication.
