Chemistry is a dynamic, multi-faceted subject. This integrated masters course places emphasis on research alongside developing your laboratory, practical and professional skills.

You'll study polymer and industrial chemistry and analytical chemistry. A research project will enhance your skills in experimental design, critical analysis and problem-solving. You'll also develop your understanding of inorganic, physical, organic and medicinal chemistry. Forensic psychology looks at the relationships between brain and criminal behaviour, how social groups interact and how human beings learn and develop. This course focuses on biological processes, rather than chemical ones. It examines how drugs affect their target areas (such as major organs and systems) and how the body reacts.

You'll study the treatment of cancer and infectious diseases, drugs that act on the brain (such as antidepressants), new drugs that treat cardiovascular disease, and the issues of drug abuse and addiction.

This Modern European Philosophy MA course is recognised as one of the most challenging and stimulating philosophy masters programmes in the UK. In addition to focused modules on Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche and Heidegger, you may also choose from a wide range of modules dealing on contemporary philosophy, critical theory, psychoanalysis, contemporary art, and so on.

On this course, you'll gain detailed knowledge of building maintenance, care, conservation and structure, reflecting the work of a building surveyor. You'll study the business and legal aspects of property and construction. You'll learn how to advise clients of legal and financial implications resulting from the condition of buildings.

You'll examine building designs, poor, good and/or sustainable. You'll use sketching and computer-aided design packages. You'll also examine reasons for constructions and buildings failing, which is a key knowledge base for chartered building surveyors.

A major group project and an independent research project will give you the opportunity to showcase your learning.

You'll research, design and produce a range of media products, developing skills in project management and team-working. Live projects include creating and producing the campus newspaper and news website, The River.

Through practical modules, you'll develop your writing, editing and production skills. You'll also acquire an understanding of the legal and ethical implications that may apply to your work.

With a full programme of workshops and critical study, this Creative Writing MA offers you the chance to work on your own writing in different genres with the support of published practitioners.

The Writers' Workshop module will encourage you to develop your writing 'voice' through engagement with fellow students across a range of genres (in fiction or creative non-fiction), while the Special Study module enables you to specialise in one genre, such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry or drama.

This course is an ideal preparation for a career in public health nutrition and the food industry. You'll have the opportunity to study abroad and gain a career head start through a year's industrial placement.

This course examines food science, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, immunology and microbiology. You'll study contemporary topics in nutrition such as genetic modification, fortification and supplementation and nutraceuticals. You'll also look at nutrition's links to health and disease, in both developed and developing countries.

Through an independent project, you'll be able to research a subject of interest (such as public health and clinical nutrition, food science and the role of specific compounds in food).

This hands-on course studies the science that underpins sports participation and how the body's performance can be improved. Topics include anatomy, biomechanics, nutrition, physiology and psychology. You'll learn to monitor and assess health, fitness and performance.

You'll be able to tailor your studies to your own interests and career goals. There is an option to study sports injuries and a project/ dissertation on a selected topic.
