On this course, you'll evaluate many of society's current issues and learn how psychology and criminology can raise questions and find answers.

You'll gain a deeper insight into the human mind and behaviour, develop an understanding of how we behave, think and interact, and study how we respond to crime, criminal behaviour and victimisation. You'll find out why individuals offend, how their crimes affect society and how the criminal justice system operates.

This course, one of a suite of digital media courses, enables you to study professional digital media practice in a microstudio environment with a focus on the design skills necessary for the field of games development. Through a student-centred, project-based curriculum, you will work as a games designer to develop your specialist skills while working as part of an interdisciplinary team with students from across the full programme.

How exactly do medicinal drugs treat and prevent disease? How are they are discovered and tested? How do they affect society? If you want to delve deeper into these questions, this could be the course for you.

This course focuses on biological processes, rather than chemical ones. It examines how drugs affect their target areas (such as major organs and systems) and how the body reacts.

You'll study the treatment of cancer and infectious diseases, drugs that act on the brain (such as antidepressants), new drugs that treat cardiovascular disease, and the issues of drug abuse and addiction.

This course focuses on the skills of the building surveyor operating within the construction industry. It centres on the requirements of the UK-based building surveying professional, as identified by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). It also offers European and global perspectives appropriate to the requirements of international consultancies.

You will develop professional skills and examine the multidisciplinary requirements specific to building surveying (such as building information modelling).

You will gain knowledge of building materials, construction technology and pathology, legal and regulatory issues (such as party wall issues), the design of simple structures and the preparation of schemes for the rehabilitation of buildings.

• Environmental Management (Energy) MSc – this pathway is timely, nationally and internationally relevant, given the world's energy needs, as well as the surrounding political debates regarding fossil fuels and increasingly, renewables, which form such an essential component of the world's existence.

The crucial roles that the pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry industries have played in the fight against Covid-19, have also increased public awareness and perception of the challenges being faced, and thus the national strategic importance of these industries.

This integrated masters course places emphasis on research alongside developing your laboratory, practical and professional skills, and a specialism in medicinal chemistry in the final year of the degree.

This course will you provide with an understanding of the forces of global politics and develop the skills you need to actively engage in the academic and professional discussions that are shaping the contemporary international agenda. This course focuses on literature that explores the limits of human experience and contravenes cultural boundaries. You will consider how writing has been a catalyst for social and political change.

You will develop your understanding of literary and theoretical texts and sharpen your skills of literary research, writing and analysis.

Option modules enable you to examine a range of contentious issues across historical periods and
genres. Through a 15,000 word dissertation, you will research a subject of your choice, with support and supervision from a specialist member of staff.

This course explores current trends in chemical, biological and biotechnological therapeutics and examines the latest technologies in the pharmaceutical industry. You will gain an understanding of processes used in clinical trials and in the development, manufacture and regulation of medicines. Through an independent research project, you will study an area of interest in depth. Examples of projects include: medicinal chemistry (eg. synthesis of anti-cancer compounds and natural products), pharmaceutical technology (eg. optimisation of tablet manufacture and formulation), and clinical pharmacy (eg. pharmacovigilance, clinical trial and medicines regulations).

The Philosophy MPhilStud course is a unique and intensive two-year programme – the only one of its kind in the UK.

It is dedicated to postgraduate study and research in the tradition of modern European (or 'continental') philosophy.  You will be able to study in more depth and with a more intense research focus than is possible in a one-year MA.
