This course explores drug discovery, pharmacology, toxicology and examines the most effective ways that medicines are manufactured, packaged, stored and administered. You'll take part in innovative research, including new methods of drug delivery and drug synthesis.

At the end of Year 1, you may apply to transfer to the MPharm course (dependent on your academic performance and an interview). Transfer is to Year 1 of the MPharm course.

Across the course, you'll consider how cultural and social values, life experiences and social inequalities are shaped by the social and global environments. You'll consider how practices and attitudes of policing respond to social events and shifts in cultural attitudes and consider the ways the media can influence individuals' perceptions of crime and its causes.

You'll also study the criminal justice system in England and Wales, explore issues of discrimination in the criminal justice system and how social structures and institutions can disadvantage and marginalise groups in society. And you'll draw global comparisons, considering the ways in which protests, and political action, criminal activity, and policing, transcend national borders.

The course also offers opportunities for you to gain valuable work experience with victim support agencies, advocacy groups, justice campaigns, international charities and NGOs via a work placement module.

How can we better understand today's social inequalities, and what can we do to solve them? What impact has globalisation had on our every day lives? How does our culture and society shape our identity and how we evaluate others? These are the types of questions we examine in our sociology degree.

You'll look at many areas of social life, such as gender, race and class, family, migration, creative industries and fashion, to understand how power operates, how individual behaviour, norms and values are shaped by the social world, and how conflict exists and is resolved.

Throughout the course, you'll be asked to reflect on your own life experiences and to consider contemporary real-world issues and events. This course, one of a suite of digital media courses, enables you to study professional digital media practice in a microstudio environment with a focus on the programming skills necessary for the field of games development. Through a student-centred project-based curriculum, you will work as a games programmer to develop your specialist skills while working as part of an interdisciplinary team with students from across the full programme.

On this practical course, you'll develop practical coaching skills as well as studying the science behind effective coaching, performance, leadership and sports analysis. You'll have access to sophisticated equipment to measure the physiological responses to exercise and analyse sports movements and skills.
