You’ll develop the expertise to operate at a strategic level in marketing roles in the events industry. This knowledge will enable you to make your business stand out.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Gain an in-depth understanding of key political, social, cultural, environmental and economic issues that shape the marketing of events
• Analyse the identity of brands and their position within an international market
• Examine what experiential marketing means to people and how events can be created to evoke positive emotions

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Study some of the principles and technologies that are dominant within the ‘fourth industrial revolution’
• Identify, explore and develop radical applications of technology, such as smart automation and development of cloud-based services
• Address some of the areas within STEM, contextualising knowledge to real-time scenarios and application to problems in industry
• Build on your existing knowledge of software engineering, networking systems, communications, systems development, cloud computing, robotics and artificial intelligence
• Develop project management skills as well as professional and technical attributes

While Computer Science traditionally contains a lot of theory, our approach is very applied, and you’ll be encouraged to think about problem solving in an industrial context.

Drawing on expertise from within the School of Built Environment, Engineering & Computing, you’ll be directed and motivated to work on advanced concepts in computer science, including for your dissertation.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Gain the knowledge and skills to think critically, be reflective and have the potential to transform and drive forward hospitality businesses through successful marketing practices
• Put hospitality, business and marketing theory into practice with visits to local industry and the chance to work on live projects, such as creating branded social experiences, communication plans for hospitality businesses and by developing exceptional guest experiences

You’ll have the opportunity to make insightful decisions based on market trends within and beyond the hospitality sector.  All of which means your project management skills will develop by creating exciting solutions that benefit consumers and the hospitality industry in an ever-changing marketing environment.

You’ll also have the option to tailor assessments to specific areas of interest including food trends, sustainability and technology.

A series of field trips will allow you to witness the hospitality industry first-hand, while guest lectures and research seminars will enable you to network with and learn from professionals.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Develop your project management skills devising, developing and successfully implementing an array of hospitality events guided by industry
• Put theory into practice and see hospitality in action, with visits to local industry
• Work on live projects, such as devising social media communication plans for restaurateurs, designing and developing an exceptional guest welcome or creating a strategy for hoteliers and bars based on data and market insights on the latest trends in the sector

There is an opportunity to negotiate your own assessments, tailor the course to your own interests and goals, and undertake on-going training throughout your course in specific industry interests and qualifications.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Learn through doing
• Gain a thorough grounding in electronics and how to apply, design and maintain them within a system from concept to the final electronic device
• Learn traditional theories and develop electronic products and systems
• Get involved in live projects that provide you with an opportunity to practise your skills straight away
• Develop expertise across a variety of topics such as configuring electronic devices through software, designing electronic products or programming embedded systems
• Understand how to find sustainable solutions to problems

As part of this course you’ll:

• Use directed experiential learning to see first-hand how theory links into practice
• Gain a wide understanding of educational systems and practices in the UK whether in schools and special needs schools, or settings such as museums and prisons
• Question key educational issues including the social influences surrounding how children learn and potential barriers to learning
• Gain an overview of current issues in education systems around the world and how they relate to the UK
• Study topics independently and develop high-level research skills to prepare for your major independent study

You’ll learn from a dedicated and supportive teaching team who will help you tailor the course to your professional ambitions. In your final year you’ll explore an education subject of your choosing in your major independent study. Completing a placement each year will reinforce the theory you learn in class and give you invaluable practical experience.

During year two, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of volunteering opportunities and study abroad for one or two semesters. In year three you’ll select modules based on your career aspirations.

You’ll have access to a range of guest speakers, each giving their own perspectives on current educational issues. Previous speakers have covered topics such as social work, employability and enterprise activity and we have welcomed speakers from the Alliance for Inclusive Education.

Learn about the power of the tourism consumer and get ahead of the curve in tourism marketing by learning to recognise how and when travellers make decisions and what type of holidays they might wish to take.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Combine your passion for travel and exploration with a marketing focus
• Identify different customer segments to develop effective marketing strategies and campaigns aimed at the right audience, at the right time, and using the right platforms
• Develop an understanding of consumer trends – who wants what type of holiday, the types of holiday likely to be available in the future and the kinds of message consumers are likely to engage with
• Gain an insight into moral, ethical, environmental and legal issues, allowing you to make a valuable contribution to the tourism and travel sector

You’ll acquire an understanding of sustainable tourism and development as well as the organisational structure and management of this ever-expanding field, helping you to learn how businesses operate and how skilled leaders can add to their success.

In your second and third year, you’ll have the opportunity to further enhance your knowledge through specialist marketing modules and link your marketing work with innovative launches of new tourism experiences.

You could work in high-performance sport, sports development or other environments where superior levels of athleticism are required.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Learn how to optimise human performance so that athletes of all abilities and sports can perform optimally while minimising their risk of injury
